Description

More than half of the film is set before the 75th annual Hunger Games begin. Much of that time is spent deepening our comprehension of this savagely cruel society and heightening the stakes for the impending insurrection. Use the movie's depiction of Panem -- particularly the relationship between the Capitol and the 12 districts -- to discuss how much kids understand about totalitarian governments and dictatorships. What does President Snow mean when he says he doesn't root for "underdogs"? Or that too much hope is a dangerous thing? Why are there more bleak portrayals of the distant future than optimistic ones? What are some other books and movies that feature a post-apocalyptic or post-war future?

The heart of the story is intact, unfortunately there are many significant elements from the novel entirely missing, or changed to the point they lose the depth of meaning they were intended to have. Unlike some of the sub-plot and story elements left out of the Potter and LOTR series, these missing and adulterated items matter greatly, and lessen the quality of the movie. I will give the producers credit for building Seneca Crane's role in an effective way that answers many questions for those that have not read the books. Prim’s name gets chosen at the reaping against all odds. Katniss volunteers to take the place of her younger sister and become the new president of the United States. s the girl tribute for the 74th Hunger Games from District 12. The other tribute is Peeta Mellark, a young kid Katniss age and the son of the baker. As the couple’s CG train zips between districts, we see how Snow’s stormtroopers clamp down on what little freedom remains, offset by the empty frivolity of life in the capital — a nonstop binge-and-purge banquet where wild hairstyles and lavish costume changes provide a distraction from an idle existence.

To start, this movie is one of the best I have ever seen. I LOVE the books, and this is probably one of the best book to movie adaptations I've seen in a long time. But before you go letting your 9 year old watch it, let's go over the story, as well as the pros and cons. Did you know you can flag iffy content? Adjust limits for Violence & Scariness in your kid's entertainment guide. Get started Close Positive massages:4/5, Many of the haters of this movie are disturbed at the teens killing teens aspect of the story, but I think that is the point. This movie shows us the horrific violence that ensues when you dehumanize people. The movie also shows what happens when you allow a totalitarian government to take control. In addition, this movie also promotes courage, loyalty, selflessness, and friendship.

Families can talk about how the "last man standing" premise of The Hunger Games compares to reality TV shows. Which series pit people against each other? Why is it so much fun to watch the alliances, voting off, and general cattiness of these programs? How far do you think shows like this could go, or should go? How do the characters in the film demonstrate courage, self-control, perseverance, and teamwork? Why are these important character strengths? A new chapter in the Hunger Games franchise, directed again by Francis Lawrence, and starring Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler opens exclusively in theaters on November 17 ... Full Movie Details.

The movie begins with Katniss and Peeta on their victory tour, during which they are allowed to not only see how the other 11 districts live but also to see the first symptoms of rebellion across the country. Having already resisted the capital, the pair represents hope to all those who feel oppressed, just as their narrative inspires real-world auds to feel the same way. To sum it all up, it is one of my all-time FAVORITES! The story is intriguing and well thought out, the violence is fairly bloody but not overly gory, swearing and sexy stuff are kept to a minimum, and the alcoholic character sobers as the movie goes on. There are great messages and lessons we can learn from this movie. I think it is appropriate for nearly all teens, but it's an iffy choice for anyone under 13 years old. The victor is allowed to return home, and his region is lavished with presents, primarily food. The Capitol’s Games are intended to punish Panem’s 12 districts while also reminding them of the Dark Days when the 13th district was decimated for rising up against the oppressive and cruel Capitol. Overall it is great to see the novel brought to life on the big-screen. First of all, kudos to the actors - each does a marvelous job with their roles. Harrelson, Lawrence, Hutchinson, Tucci, Banks and the rest of the cast - they all nail their characters and do them honor. The original Death Race 2000 is one of my favorite films of all time. It is campy, B-movie fun with a serious satirical streak to it. The film spawned a remake / prequel in 2008, which in turn spawn two, soon to be three sequels, none of which really captured the essence of the original. However, Death Race 2050 is produced by Roger Corman, so does that mean it will be closer in tone and quality?
