About this deal

To counter this, I'd recommend warming your espresso glass or up – but I tend to go a step beyond this when I'm making the first espresso on a bean to cup machine just as it's warmed up. The stainless steel espresso tray is designed to ensure a perfect espresso every time, with an impeccable crema layer and no splashes, while the removable brew group doses and tamps the right amount of ground coffee for all your espressos.

This machine was over budget, but then I found your discount code which brought it just inside… and frankly, it’s great! My opinion of thermoblock boilers (which are used on most bean to cup coffee machines) is that they're fine, but they're usually less powerful than traditional boilers. The Brera is easier where dosing (strength) is concerned, because when you turn the machine on when it's been fully on, it resets to 3 bean, so you know you're getting an 11g dose when you turn it on, if you press the dose button once it'll toggle to pre-ground (bypass chute) press it again and it's 1 bean (9g), press it again and it'll toggle to 2 beans (10g) and once more to be back at 3 beans (11g). I've been getting quite lot of contact recently from people with varying levels of visual impairment seeking advice on what might be the best bean to cup machine for them, so I put some time and thought into trying to figure out what might be the best machines to consider if you're visually impaired, and the Gaggia Brera is one of the best options, in my humble opinion.

I understand that the grinder options on the Brera are limited, so presumably a good semi-automatic has more potential to get a perfect shot. There's a button for on and off, a button for espresso, a button for long coffee, a button to toggle the coffee strength and to select the grinder bypass chute for pre-ground, and there's a simple knob for steam and hot water.

Made of natural, high-quality ingredients, this descaler efficiently removes limescale and ensures smooth operation of your coffee machine. As I mentioned earlier, I'm not usually a bean to cup user, and one of the reasons for that is I'm more of a perfectionist with the extraction. Because the glass cup has a handle, it's just the right size with the cups I use, to allow the espresso to be warmed by the water without it dropping too far into the cup. Bean to cup machines from Gaggia, DeLonghi, Philips, Siemens, Krups, Melitta and others, brew coffee differently to traditional portafilter espresso machines. which draws milk via a plastic tube (you can stick the tube directly into your milk bottle, or into a jug) and then pours the steamed milk directly into your cup – or if you prefer, into your jug, for pouring.

The only slightly challenging thing to do with the Brera would be to re-program the shot buttons if you want to do that, as you press and hold the shot button to start, and then press it when you've got the desired volume of coffee, and that's clearly more of a faff than just twisting a dial. The Gaggia Magenta Prestige comes with an integrated milk carafe, which froths milk twice and removes all bubbles, while ensuring the milk hits the right temperature.Don't just take our word for it; check out all the spare parts and diagrams we've gathered to uphold the sustainability of your new coffee machine. Personally if I wanted a longer coffee I’d just make an amerciano (espresso and fresh hot water) but many bean to cup users do tend to use the long coffee button, not my cup of tea ;-), but each to their own.

Pull it out to prepare flawless espressos and push it in when you prefer to brew drinks in tall glasses. Tip: pour water into the water tank of your coffee machine first, then add the descaler (unless it's specified otherwise in the manual of your coffee machine). Customise and memorise the length of the available beverages simply by keeping selected the button for a few seconds. Most of us would fill our water bottles up fresh each morning if it wasn't empty, the same with our kettles, so why should we make coffee using water that's been sitting in there overnight? Inspired by Italian design and craftsmanship, the Anima features a stainless steel front that will fit right at home in both traditional and modern kitchens.

When half of the cup is filled with water, turn the machine off and give some time for the cleaning tablet to do its magic. With Gaggia machines you just toggle through each “bean” setting, and each one will deliver an approximate dose weight.
