There are many different kinds of accessories that can make your child even more comfortable sleeping in his or her own bed. The accessories both increase safety and brighten up the child’s room.

I’ve just moved my twins from their *cot beds into the ‘big boy bed’ version by taking the sides off, and we were given two Baby Dan wooden bed rails to try out and review.

Place the bed guard half-way down the bed so that it sits in the middle. This guarantees the safest place, as it prevents your toddler from rolling out whilst sleeping at either end of the bed. They’re suitable for children aged 18 months to five years, and are 90cm long by 42cm high. So they provide ample protection for the child and are really sturdy. There’s no way they’re falling out of bed with this on. But there’s still enough room at either end (obviously depending on where you position it) for them to get in and out themselves. When you have a safety gate, you can make it flexible by adding extensions. That would allow it to also fit different and wider openings. This can be useful if, for example, you move to a new home or if you want to use the safety gate somewhere else in your house. This also means that you will not have to buy a new gate. However, keep in mind that you can only extend your safety gate if it is pressure mounted. You also need to keep in mind that some gates need wall cups if you add extensions.
