If the garment you are planning to dye has a light color and you are looking to dye it a darker color: Then all we recommend doing is following the standard instructions for how to use Rit DyeMore. Please note that due to the complexity of dyeing synthetics, you must use the stovetop method when dyeing with Rit DyeMore. If you are trying to get as dark of a color as possible, please also read our tips on how to get the darkest color possible. If your clothing has been stained heavily, your best bet is to soak the item in a colour run remover that is suitable for the fabric, before attempting to wash it again. Plus, just like our original formula, Rit DyeMore is non-toxic and safe for sewer and septic systems. Wash your clothes before dyeing them. Follow any instructions for pre-washing that come with your dye. Usually, you will need to put the clothes through the washing machine on a warm, gentle cycle using mild detergent. Drop the clothing item into the dye bath until the entire garment is covered. Use a mixing spoon to press the fabric completely beneath the surface. Rinse the clothes in cool water before dyeing them. Rinse out the excess fixative and mordant by placing the clothes under cool running water. Rinse until the water runs clear. Unlike traditional bleach, which contains chlorine that can damage fabric, Colour Remover is chlorine-free so that you can safely dye fabric after removing it's colour. Take a white cloth and dampen it with a commercial stain remover, rubbing alcohol, hairspray, or any clear solvent that is 90% alcohol. If using a cotton/polyester blend, please note it will only dye to a lighter shade as only the cotton fibres will absorb the colour.
