Peptac Liquid is used for the treatment of symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux such as acid regurgitation, heartburn, and indigestion, which may occur, for example, following meals or during pregnancy. What is acid reflux and what are common symptoms?

Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have an underlying medical condition, are taking any other medication or complementary therapy, or if symptoms persist Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over should take 10-20ml after meals and at bedtime as needed, up to four times a day. To be taken by mouth, after meals at at bedtime. Shake bottle well before use. Leave 1 - 2 hours between taking this medicine and other medicines. This medicine is not recommended for children under 6 years of age. Do not exceed the recommended dose.

Peptac liquid contains the following active ingredients which provide symptom control: you have needed to use heartburn or indigestion remedies continuously for two or more weeks to control your symptoms Peptac Peppermint Liquid is used to treat heartburn, upset stomach characterised by stomach pain and burning, nausea and excess gas.These three ingredients work to reduce and remove the excess acid in your stomach. By working in this way the medicine proactively reduces and relieves symptoms associated with heartburn and indigestion.

As Acidex mode of action is physical, overdosage in terms of the alginate content is virtually no hazard. The only consequence is abdominal discomfort which is best treated conservatively. The relatively low concentrations of sodium and calcium carbonate in Acidex would also make serious consequences from overdosage very unlikely. Antacids may interact with other drugs as they alter the gastric pH which may affect dissolution, solubility or ionisation of the other drug. Antacids reduce the absorption of certain drugs from the following groups: ACE Inhibitors, Analgesics, Antibacterials, Antiepileptics, Antifungals, Antimalarials, Antipsychotics, Bisphosphonates, Lithium and Penicillamine. This medicine contains sodium, ethyl parahydroxybenzoate (E214), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216) and butyl parahydroxybenzoate. See leaflet for further information. Peptac Liquid contains the following active ingredients which provide symptom control: Peptac Liquid contains three active ingredients: sodium bicarbonate, sodium alginate, and calcium carbonate. These ingredients work together as reflux suppressants to form a protective layer on top of the stomach contents to prevent stomach acid from escaping the stomach and causing discomfort. Sodium bicarbonate neutralizes stomach acid, while sodium alginate creates a foam barrier to prevent acid reflux. Calcium carbonate also helps to neutralize stomach acid, providing relief from heartburn and acid indigestion. How should I store Peptac Liquid?Peptac liquid should preferably not be taken at the same time of day as any other medicines. In general, any interactions can be avoided if you don't take Peptac liquid in the two hours before and after taking any other medicine. Adults and children over the age of 12 can take 10-20 mls up to four times a day. For children aged 6 to 12 are required to take 5-10mls up to four times a day. Peptac is suitable for adults and children aged 6 years and above, it, however, is not suitable for patients who are allergic to any of the ingredients in the medication. If you are taking any other medication it is advised that you speak to your own GP before taking this medication. How long does Peptac last? Peptac Liquid is to be taken by mouth, after meals and at bedtime. Shake the bottle well before use. Adults and children over 12 years: take 10-20ml (two to four 5ml spoonful's) up to four times a day. Children 6 to 12 years: take 5-10ml (one to two 5ml spoonful's) up to four times a day.

Antacids may increase the pH of the urine and affect the rate of drug elimination. Excretion of basic drugs is decreased whereas acidic drugs are eliminated more rapidly. Also contains: carbomer, sodium hydroxide, saccharin sodium, ethyl parahydroxybenzoate (E214), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), butyl parahydroxybenzoate, isopropyl alcohol, erythrosine colour (E127), star anise oil, purified water.Clinical studies in more than 500 pregnant women as well as a large amount of data from postmarketing experience indicate no malformative nor feto / neonatal toxicity of the active substances. Acidex can be used during pregnancy, if clinically needed.
