About this deal

For most of us, our local bike shop will always come to the rescue for major repairs that require specialty tools or mechanic skills beyond our knowledge. But it doesn’t hurt to learn a few simple fixes or even to service your own bike to prevent small problems from becoming bigger (and more expensive) ones. And by working on your own bike, you not only save time and money, you also become more familiar with it and get to know how it works. There is still plenty of metal on bikes so if they're frequently exposed to rain, they're likely to corrode. At the very least, consider buying a rain cover for your bike, and if your budget, and space allow, opt for a heavy-duty secure shelter. The Topeak Tune-Up Stand is perfect for bikers that do minimal maintenance and are looking for an inexpensive option that allows them to do basic upkeep and cleaning. It’s incredibly portable and lightweight and works well for leaving in a car or van. The thing that connects all these different use cases is that it's incredibly secure. I wasn't joking about the cats. I've seen them slam into the bike chasing each other through the house and it doesn't move. I've also taken pictures in crazy wind and still knew the bike in the stand was secure.

There is another way to look at efficiency though. Efficiency of space is one interpretation but efficiency of resources is another. Stated more simply, "what's the most affordable way to store a bike?" If that's your angle on efficiency there's really no better solution than a screw-in hook like the one we featured from Park Tool. It works, it's inexpensive, and it also makes pretty good use of space. How do you store expensive bikes? With all of these stands, you’ll still have to do a little lifting to get your bike attached to the clamp. There are no silly questions here, and this is a very valid one. If your bike is being stored long term, it's important to keep some air in the tyres. Even without using your bike, the air very slowly escapes over time, so your tyres will eventually start to deflate, albeit extremely slowly.then you just need some heavy gas pipe, probably 1 1/4" as the Riser,..maybe going to a 'T',.. you could have pipe and a 90 and 'weight' on one side of the 'T' as a counterweight to the bike, then the other side of the 'T' you'd need a bit of pipe and some type of clamp. Before making a decision on an ebike stand you will first want to figure out the weight of your ebike with your battery.

There have been several times when working on an ebike that we needed to run the motor on the stand to fully diagnose and fix the ebike. However, on the plus side, they’re faster to load and often cheaper. The wide tripod base of the Sport Mechanic is very stable, and it’s a good option if you have to work on an uneven surface. Speaking about tires, there are three main types of them: pneumatic (air-filled), solid rubber, and foam-filled. Each type has its own pros and cons when it comes to transportation.
