Description

The PMD Wave Pro is basically an advanced skin spatula. It uses SonicGlow™ Technology with over 7,000 vibrations per minute to break down the dirt and oil from deep within the pores, and leave your skin feeling super clean. It also uses EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation) with micro-currents to gently target facial muscles. This lifting and toning action also ups your collagen and elastin production to give you a naturally radiant glow. Settings one and two offer constant vibration and are recommended for optimum cleansing results. The brush bristles are extremely gentle and suitable for all skin types.

Have you used a facial cleansing device before? If not, are you tempted to try one like the PMD Clean now? Settings three and four are the ones to use with the ridged side of the brush head after cleansing to massage serums and moisturisers into the skin. The pulsing action lifts, firms and tones the skin by stimulating blood flow and collagen production. And also helps your product(s) penetrate more deeply for greater effectiveness. I tried using both facial oils and night creams and again, the device performed beautifully. For me, one of the best things about this beauty device is the hygienic silicone coating, which is anti-bacterial, hypoallergenic, waterproof and incredibly easy to clean. Literally, you just rinse and leave to dry, what could be simpler? Prior to this I was using an ALDI facial brush. While there’s no denying the bargain price ( I mean, come on, it’s ALDI), I was never sure if the bristles were really clean. Which is rather important for skincare really… Oh, and the PMD Clean is battery operated too, so ideal for taking away on holiday to Cornwall recently. Thoughts on the PMD Clean I say the first ten days because I did experience quite a few eruptions during this time, but this is simply the result of deep cleansing and massage. Much like when you go for a professional facial and your therapist pulls all the grollies to the surface. Once this stage is over though you can revel in your new glowing skin. And enjoy using less foundation and concealer too – at least in my case.

I came to the PMD Clean as a former Clarisonic user when Clarisonic went out of business. So, is the PMD better than Clarisonic? Without a doubt, yes. I was so disappointed when I found out Clarisonic was shutting down, but it’s for the better because the PMD is not only more effective—it’s much more hygienic. Yes, the PMD Clean and PMD Clean Pro facial cleansing brushes can be used daily to cleanse and massage. I use mine twice daily—once in the morning and once at night. Can I use PMD in the shower?

Tip: beware any open wounds or cuts on your fingers when using the Lift Mode, the EMS microcurrents can sting! You rinse your face with warm water and then apply your chosen cleanser. Wet the PMD Clean and move the brush head in circular motions around your face for as long as you wish. When done, simply rinse both your face and the facial cleansing device, pat your face dry, and leave the PMD Clean to air dry. I tried the device with several different cleansers ( including my beloved Origins foaming cleanser and a non-foaming Aloe Vera gel wash) and they all worked equally well. Side note: I did remove my eye-make up first in the evenings. Massaging With the proper amount of cleanser and water applied, using it feels like a mini massage! And your skin really does have that squeaky clean sensation after, like you know you’ve gotten every last bit of the day off of your face. I use the heating side a few times per week (more for relaxation than for skin results). I recommend using plenty of sudsy cleanser during your first two weeks with the PMD for optimum cleansing results—the silicone bristles can be a bit irritating at first. They soften over time and now feel very gentle on my skin. Tip: the beeping sound is quite loud when you use the device near your ears. I found using disposable foam ear plugs helped as I seem to have sensitive hearing. Infuse Mode PMD stands for Personal Microderm. You can read more about how PMD Beauty came about and the technology they use in their products on PMDBeauty.com. PMD Clean vs. Clarisonic My skin is acne-prone and on the dry side, and though I no longer have cystic acne, I get flare ups around my cycle. I’m the type of person who absolutely cannot go to bed without going through my skin routine. Without it, I’m likely to wake up with a breakout. To cleanse my skin, I used the Clarisonic Mia 2 for years, but it was discontinued in September 2020. I bought the PMD Clean Pro in July 2021 and have been using it daily in my morning and evening skin care routine since. About the PMD Clean

The unisex PMD Wave PRO* comes in two colours: London Fog Grey and Blush Pink. It’s one of a range of beauty devices including the brand’s best-selling device, the award-winning PMD Personal Microderm*, the PMD Personal Microderm Elite PRO*, the PMD Kiss*, the PMD Clean*, the PMD Clean PRO*, the PMD Clean Body*, and the new PMD Clean Acne*. How do you use the PMD Wave PRO? As with all electrical devices, pregnant women and individuals with pacemakers should consult a medical professional prior to using the PMD Wave PRO. Extract Mode The PMD Wave PRO looks like it uses blue light therapy but I suspect not enough to make any real difference. Why is this important? Because blue light has anti-inflammatory properties, kills off acne-causing bacteria, and can reduce redness and inflammation in the skin, when used frequently. Very helpful for those of us with congested skin, and if you’re plagued with more severe acne, you could try the new PMD Clean Acne*, specifically designed to use blue light therapy and target this condition. Is the PMD Wave PRO worth it? Before pressing the button again to turn on Lift Mode, mist your face with toner or similar so your skin is moist again. Then, with your fingers on the Touch Points either side of the device, use the PMD Wave PRO in an upward and outward direction. PMD suggests targeting any crow’s feet and lip lines but you can use the device on your jawline, above your eyebrows, and anywhere else you’d like to tone your skin and enjoy a little lift.As EMS helps target muscles and stimulate collagen production, yes, potentially the device can help with laughter lines and crow’s feet. Although please note neither PMD nor I are claiming this as a fact. Another question I’ve seen asked is whether the PMD Clean is better than the Foreo. While I’ve never tried the Foreo, I know that it’s similar to the PMD in that both brushes are silicone. From what I understand, the Foreo Luna isn’t for all skin types and costs almost double.

I’m familiar with smartphones and smartwatches but I’d not heard of a smart facial cleansing device before! Anyway, like most facial cleansing brushes, the PMD Clean* works by deep level cleansing to leave your skin dirt and makeup free. And it also helps with anti-aging by simultaneously encouraging collagen production, for a more youthful complexion. The main difference between the PMD Clean and PMD Clean Pro is that the Clean is AA-battery powered while the Pro is rechargeable. Both have four customizable modes, but the Pro has heating for enhanced product absorption. The Pro is freestanding; the original requires a base to stand upright. Can I use the PMD Clean every day?Extract mode uses negative ions to help lift and remove debris, dead skin, and sebum out of the pores (use once a week or up to three times a week if your skin doesn’t react adversely). Infuse mode uses positive ions to split skincare products into smaller molecules, allowing them to be more easily absorbed into the skin (use daily). I normally use my fingers to apply my skincare products, so did using the PMD Wave PRO make any difference? In all honesty, it’s hard to be absolutely sure, but I think my skin was softer, smoother, and looked more plumped up after a few weeks. Lift Mode Some beauty experts recommend using facial cleansing devices no more than three times a week, but the PMD Clean is gentle enough to use twice a day. And my facial skin is truly the clearest it’s ever been in its life. It feels firmer, looks healthier, and my pores have never been so clean, even on my nose. Because of this, they look smaller and, after the first ten days, I’ve had far fewer breakouts too. The brush head of the PMD Clean is also a major upgrade. I had many instances where my Clarisonic wouldn’t dry without completely disassembling and hand drying it. This meant that when I didn’t, it was likely growing bacteria that I couldn’t see with the naked eye and, in turn, contributing to breakouts, which was a major personal concern for me. The beauty of silicone on the PMD brush head is that it’s hypoallergenic, anti-bacterial, and dries almost instantly. PMD Clean vs. Foreo
