In this fragrance, jasmine, rose, and tuberose are expertly blended with a hint of mint and galbanum. 3 Fleurs is a little soapy, but not traditionally; it is undoubtedly a unisex fragrance with outstanding performance. Something I was fearing has happened. The house of Jean Patou is now dead when it comes to fragrance production.... The acquisition of the brand by LVMH was the final sign that things were coming to an end, and when they released a perfume called Joy under the Dior umbrella, it was clear that nothing good was going to happen with the original Joy, launched by Jean Patou in 1930. It was a floral but compared to the powerful bright floral scents of the 80’s it was so subtle, it was almost invisible. Unable to find any ‘joy’ wearing this perfume for my personal pleasure, I decided to purposefully try and gauge the male reaction to it. The bright aldehyde chirped loudly and made a deafening sound, like an alarm, to make people around you retreat far away, so as not to be impacted by the aftermath. Distance produces beauty.

Designer Parfums buys Jean Patou from P&G Prestige". CosmeticsBusiness.com. 5 July 2011 . Retrieved 14 September 2012. The polarized experience reflects the characteristics of JOY itself - it has a dual character, or it is straight and rude, or it is beautiful and grand. My box reads: Joy Eau de ref. n. 1203 . Box made in France; bottom right corner: '702' This is a 30 ml or 1 ounces. (Splash) Confirmed this information on...raidersofthelostscent.blogspot com how-to-recognize-jean-patou-fragrances), to confirm authenticity. After hearing the tragic death of Joy, I have these parfum and EDT for months, today comes the time to compare them side by side... let's begin.

There's just a hint of powder too, and if you like that sort of thing, it's deliciously delightful. I happen to adore it. Of all the big brands Dior has been the one which has been the most openly cynical about the mass-market consumer. The whole Miss Dior Cherie-Miss Dior debacle is a prime example. Joy by Dior joins that list of dubious distinction. Jean Patou as a company suffered from going through the years of economic recession, but it had a contradictory approach: when things got tough, luxury was boosted. Even when the company was in difficulties, and so was its clientele, Patou's approach was always to surprise the market with seemingly nonsensical products. That was the case of Joy, the quintessence of rarity and supreme opulence. When in 1929, Jean Patou smelled the unreleased sample of what was to be Joy, he loved it, but the perfumer told him it would be impossible to release it in the marker, for the essences that had been used were too expensive, and impossible to use commercially due to the prohibitive price. Jean Patou took this answer and turned this perfume into a marketing strategy, announcing Joy as "The World's Costliest Perfume." It was a success! Some people say that JOY does not actually have a separate type of EAU DE JOY. If there is, it is likely to be a light version that the company has reconfigured for customer needs. Like Shalimar, Chanel No.22 and other greats, the composition of Joy is so pure and exact, it renders the fiction of perfume invisible and makes it feel not as a wear but as an identity that you take over or decide to cohabitate. Designers for the House of Patou have included Marc Bohan (1954–1956), Karl Lagerfeld (1960–1963) and Jean Paul Gaultier (1971–1973). Christian Lacroix joined the label in 1981. The last fashion collection produced by the House of Patou label was in 1987 when the haute couture business closed definitively following Lacroix's departure to open his own house.
