Riding the high of his profound Spring/Summer 2024 collection, London-based designer Richard Quinn has teamed up with luxury Scotch whisky brand Royal Salute for a collaboration that truly brings out the best in both brands. As part of Royal Salute’s expanding Fashion Collection, the unveiling of the Royal Salute 21 Year Old Richard Quinn Edition II marks the second year of partnership between the two – a collaboration that reflects the highest level of cutting-edge creativity and technical excellence across the two industries. Blended by Master Blender Sandy Hyslop and Quinn himself, the limited edition expression is presented with a beautifully designed six-piece collection that features three enthralling, recognisable prints. From inside to out, this is certainly a collector’s dream. This dedication is not unlike his typical clients, whose positive reaction is always a highlight of his presentations. “I really like when people come to the show who we know like the collections. It’s quite exciting when we have private clients and people who write about us that we know like us. We’re quite good friends with our clients and all the people that we work with, so it’s just quite nice to see everyone. It’s fun. Obviously, we’re open to critique and we don’t like to censor anyone, but I often compare a fashion show to a party. Would I want this person at my birthday?” Chivas Royal Salute 38 year old Stone of Destiny - Launched in 2005, this is a blend of whisky that has been aged for a minimum of 38 years.

Royal Salute is unique in that the youngest ‘entry-level’ expression in its range is 21 years old. Since its launch Royal Salute has always been bottled in coloured ceramic decanters, the first of which was green, and made by Royal Doulton. It initially featured the Royal Coat of Arms, which was later replaced by the Chivas Brothers crest depicting Robert the Bruce. Nose: Entirely pleasant – orange peels, grapefruit and honeycomb come together with some older aromas of leather armchairs, dusty books and brass polish. Deeper, some nuttiness (hazelnut) and light chocolate, alongside both cinnamon and ginger spicing. There’s something slightly Japanese-esque here - incense, or sandalwood – it’s light, but perceptible nonetheless. A few drops of water (take care, this drowns easily) adds both biscuit and gentle earthy mushrooms. Royal Salute Diamond Jubilee - This is another 21 year old Royal Salute blend created to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation.

Chivas’s Royal Salute 21 year old has been around for quite some time – 1953 to be precise. Introduced to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation, the name derives from a gun salute – a barrage of cannons or artillery fired as a military honour. The ‘basic’ salute is 21 rounds (which ties rather nicely to the age of this particular whisky) fired at 10 second intervals. Though in certain locations (Royal Parks, London’s Tower of London etc) extra rounds are fired, meaning that for something as significant as a royal coronation, both 41 and 62 gun salutes would take place. Earplugs at the ready. Royal Salute 62 Gun Salute - This is a blend of whiskies by each of the four Master Blenders since the brand was created in 1953. The blends have been passed down to the current day. All the blends in the Royal Salute 62 Gun Salute are aged for at least 40 years. This was launched in 2010. The brand's distillery and visitor centre are at the Strathisla distillery, located in Speyside. The distillery was founded in 1786, and it is the oldest working distillery in the Highlands of Scotland. [5] [6] The Strathisla distillery is owned by Chivas Brothers, and Strathisla Single Malt is one of the malt whiskies used within the Royal Salute blend.Records the default button state of the corresponding category & the status of CCPA.
