Get ready to rule social media thanks to the Samsung Galaxy S10e’s Ultra HD front selfie lens, with auto focus.

While the S10e's approach works as well as any conventional scanner, in practice it can be hard to locate, because the depression of the power key within the frame isn't well pronounced. This led to many failed presses initially, with the phone constantly reminding me to cover the entire button when applying my prints. Once I established muscle memory for the proper location, though, the success rate significantly improved. Keep every memory in crisp and clear detail. With a front camera, and 2 rear cameras, including an ultra-wide lens, shed light on every scene and capture moments as you see them. From shooting in Super Slow-mo to adding flair with filters, the Galaxy S10e lets you get creative. The Galaxy S10e introduces a new 5.8" flat Infinity-O Display. It's minimalist, almost endless and crafted from flawless glass. It stretches from side to side with no home button, no notch for the receiver and a simple dot opening for the front camera. What the whole S10 line has in common, however, is the punch-hole in the top-right corner of the screen, the source of the Samsung-termed ‘Infinity-O’ display. It’s noticeable, like the notches before it, though far less an eyesore than the wider camera tabs found in the likes of the iPhone XS and XS Max. In this default state, the S10e covers 148 percent of the sRGB space. That's ahead of the iPhone XS' 123 percent, and those who prefer perkier colors shouldn't fear, as Samsung has included a Vivid option with the S10e that ratchets up those hues into the stratosphere. And no matter what profile you use, the S10e's screen comes HDR10+ certified for excellent contrast and visibility in shadows and highlights alike.

Galaxy Features at a Cheaper Price

The 5.8-inch AMOLED display lives up to the Galaxy S name, with bright colors and crisp detail. If you don’t quite like the color balance, you can tinker with an easy fix called Vivid Mode, which does what it says on the box and lets you further tweak it to be a warmer (more red) or cooler (more blue) picture. If even that isn’t enough, you can tinker with the RGB levels individually. Samsung has also teamed up with Unity – the game engine that powers most Android games – to help improve gaming performance. We didn’t manage to spot the benefits during testing, as the S10e seemed to perform just as well as the others in our suite of GFXBench tests, but the overall gaming experience is remarkably fluid. You shouldn’t run into any issues when running the latest titles from the Google Play Store.

Expect fast LTE performance from the Galaxy S10. According to testing from Ookla Speedtest, the S10e averaged 49.18 Mbps, compared to just 33.17 Mbps for the iPhone XR. The S10e is a beautiful piece of tech, and it deserves an interface that feels as futuristic and advanced as its exterior. That said, there are some things I really like about OneUI. Samsung's gesture interface is one of the simplest and cleverest I've encountered yet, as the company has just replaced Android's traditional three-button navigation bar with three zones to swipe up and trigger those same functions. And OneUI's Night Mode is not only a bit more stylish and easier on the eyes, but also saves energy, too.The Galaxy S10e's camera set cuts several corners. The dual rear camera consists of a 12 MP sensor that shifts from f/1.5 to f/2.4 aperture depending upon the lighting conditions and an auxiliary 16 MP sensor with an f/2.2 super wide-angle lens. These are identical to the cameras available on the standard S10 and the S10 Plus, the difference being that the S10e does NOT include the third lens (12 MP f/2.4 telephoto). This means that the phone offers only digital, no optical, zoom function. Samsung's photo processing software includes AI-assisted shooting, with the camera selecting one of 30 available optimisation modes, depending upon subject and environment. The 10 MP (f/1.9) selfie camera is the same as that on the standard S10. Only the Plus version of 2019's Galaxy includes the second front camera for depth. Samsung Galaxy S10e: UK Verdict We also praised the very simplified design of the menu. True, some fans of the brand expected a much more complex presentation of functions and applications to get the most out of this high-tech screen. However, it is a revolutionary smartphone that is very easy to use that makes this smartphone overall a pleasurable experience. Updated Camera Features: Get the more powerful S10e with a software update that gives you all new features including Single Take AI, Pro Video and more The S10e can also be quite a colorful phone, if you want it to be. There's a rainbow of Galaxy S10 Colors available, from vivacious Flamingo Pink to the stunning, pearl-like Prism White of our review unit. However, in true Apple fashion, the cheapest version of the S10 line gets some exclusive livelier flavors as well, like the invigorating Canary Yellow and the opulent Prism Green (neither of which is available for U.S. customers, unfortunately). Samsung Galaxy S10e: Display

A similar story played out when we photographed a box of cupcakes. The S10e's food Scene Optimizer mode boosted the exposure and warmth of the scene far beyond what was necessary. The iPhone XS' attempt is simply more grounded in reality and also more precise, especially as you peer into the details, like the icing's texture. The S10e's impressive showing on 3DMark's Ice Storm Unlimited graphics test bore this out, with a result of 5,616. That result easily tops the iPhone XS at 4,244, demonstrating that while Apple still leads in raw processing grunt, Samsung maintains an edge in graphics. The Samsung Galaxy S10e is a cheaper flagship phone that hits most of the same highs as its costlier siblings. You're still getting the same fantastic display, brisk performance, streamlined software and generous specs that make the S10 and S10 Plus great, only without some bells and whistles you don't really need (like the in-display fingerprint sensor). I was able to have a slightly larger keyboard size on the Note 10 plus 5G vs S10e. Makes for less typos/corrections on the larger keyboard. The Samsung Galaxy S10e differs from the flagship phone in many ways but still retains much of what makes a Galaxy appealing. The first obvious difference is appearance. The phone is noticeably smaller, measuring 142.2 x 69.9 x 7.9 mm and weighing 150 g. The 5.8-inch display is flat rather than edge-to-edge and features HD+ not Quad HD resolution. Unless you have your heart set on an Infinity Display, this is not a total loss. The phone is better adapted to one-handed use, and still includes the Super AMOLED panel that makes Samsung displays so clear and vibrant. The housing is also dust and waterproof (IP68). When I dismiss a wake up alarm on the s10e it works all other devices the alarm keeps sounding every 5 minutes. Battery life on the S10e is good, I should say as good as (if not better than) the Note 10 plus 5G.

Sometimes you want to show your friends a picture, but crowding around the phone screen can be a tad awkward. Not to worry – just use the SmartView feature to beam your Galaxy S10’s screen directly on to your compatible TV. Swipe down to access the Notifications bar (if you can’t see SmartView, swipe from right to left for more Notification options). Press the SmartView icon and follow the easy instructions. signal/Data is still new and perhaps over rated for and average user. I set the 5G Note 10 plus to LTE mode, as this seems to make the battery life last longer.Capture with pro-grade tool set made for masters: Control your camera settings with Pro-Video Mode to adjust the exposure, focus and more to bring your creative vision to life The S10e has been created with a flat FHD+ Super AMOLED display that’s able to automatically adapt to various lighting environments. Offering a broad range of colours, along with an incredible degree of colour clarity, you can expect to receive a greater resolution, along with immersive viewing when browsing, playing games, viewing pictures or watching films. However, we were disappointed with the positioning of the front camera , which can obstruct the view in some applications . The photo module is located in the upper left corner. This element causes blurring in the field of view in full screen mode. This detail is particularly annoying for gamers (especially PUBG fans who don't have a full view of their fellow players), but also for film and video fans. With Netflix, however, the module is out of range on the screen. Even in full-screen mode, making the platform's video format a much more enjoyable experience.. The S10e especially shines when gaming. Playing PUBG Mobile at fully maxed settings was no sweat for the phone, as the framerate never dipped noticeably throughout my session. And arcade racer Asphalt 9 Legends — one of the most demanding titles on mobile today with its extensive lighting effects, motion blur and meticulously modeled cars — ran smoother on Samsung's device than on any other smartphone I've used yet. Take these shots inside a bar, for example. The Pixel 3 delivers a balanced photo with minimal noise, good white balance and sharp details. And almost none of those qualities came through in the S10e's attempt. I could live with most of the S10e's shortcomings here, but the yellow cast that pervades the frame is far too off-putting to make the image usable without some editing.
