God of War 2018 is a story of self-discovery and parenthood, combined with satisfying gameplay and challenges, and excellent acting. This was probably for time constraints, but it does kind of remove the somber, contemplative game start that made the GoW opening so emotionally impactful (especially compared to the other games).

In my Lore and Legends review, I said the best part of the book were the parts that contained information not in the game, because everything else got a bit repetitive. He is so good, I want a spinoff of just Mimir's head, sitting alone in Kratos' cabin, talking to himself, while Kratos and Atreus are out on their adventures. Alastair Duncan's voice makes you feel like Mimir is telling you one of his stories, and his interpretations of the characters' voices is fun. I understand that one is a visual medium and the other is a written book, but the game itself STARTED out as a written one before it was translated onto screen, so I don't know where it went so horribly wrong. Instead, the series moved on, forward in time to a new Norse setting and something strange happened to Kratos.Armed with the deadly chained Blades of Chaos, guided by the goddess Athena, and driven by his own insatiable thirst for vengeance, Kratos seeks the only relic powerful enough to slay Ares .

While Atreus was in shock after Kratos tells him that he is not ready, some additional dialogue were added in the novel in which Atreus said, "I found the deer. This title tells us a story of achievement in the face of criticism and opposition, especially from the people who should otherwise be standing on your shoulders supporting you. Kratos, a warrior merely seeking redemption for his horrible misdeeds, is enslaved by the Gods to do their bidding, in the hopes that they would free him from his past, were they satisfied enough by him. Mimir’s voice was in my head because I’ve played the game, but I realized soon enough that his different accent isn’t described, nor is Kratos’s monotone and rough voice.Literally robs the entire death of any emotional impact (save what impact is left from Baldur's final words, which still get me a bit).
