However the run up to the release of Halloween Ends in late 2022 also saw a new promise made – the final showdown of two of horror cinema’s greatest icons: Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and Michael Myers (James Jude Courtney). The audio commentary is the most interesting and informative of the lot, the deleted scenes aren’t all that interesting except for an extended piece where Corey finds where Michael has been storing some dead bodies for the last few years. Ends even takes this one step further by referencing other Carpenter films, such as Christine and its mirroring of that film’s put upon lead by this film (see the shared surname of both characters, as well as clothing similarities).

John Carpenter coming back to score the films is probably the best thing to come from this middling trilogy. Plus as you say Mark, I don’t get the transfer from MM as inhuman killing machine to a wounded animal - all it would have taken is a new scene showing him bleeding at the start of Ends to indicate that he wasn’t invulnerable and was having to deal with something new. Halloween Ends is just another run of many potentially interesting and franchise-reinvigorating takes that simply miss the mark. No Place Like Haddonfield – Filmmakers and cast reveal some of the secret ingredients that make “Halloween” productions so special and their personal feelings on being a part of such a classic franchise.

Notorious serial killer Michael Myers (Nick Castle) hasn't been seen for four years since the events of 'Halloween Kills' (2021) and Laurie Strode (Curtis) is striving to embrace a life free from the long shadow of his violent rampages. David Gordon Green directs this 13th and final instalment in the 'Halloween' franchise starring Jamie Lee Curtis and James Jude Courtney. The Dolby Vision pass works overtime to keep those black levels and shadows looking as best they can. Myers hasn’t been seen since, and Laurie finally decides to liberate herself from rage and fear and embrace life. The featurettes are stuffed full of indulgent over-importance, with nothing meaty at all to say about the film’s themes or the making of the film itself (and JLC just crying. Once again, it feels that the thematic density and richness of its creators totally overpowered the slasher narrative and conceit and shows at best, a gross misunderstanding of the fanbase almost completely, whilst at worse, a wilful snubbing of them with a condescending ‘we know better’. Ending Halloween (4K, 8:26) – A featurette going over the idea and inspirations for coming up with this story and what would be the way to put a cap on this version of the branching timeline for the Halloween films. There must be something seriously wrong with me 'cause I enjoyed this Horror film and found it quite a change from the normal follow - ups. The overall mix of a perfect balance of all three aural components – effects, music and that all important dialogue, which is always clear, never boxy and nestles beautifully in the midst of the remaining sonic mayhem.
