The upside to Chaos Space Marines is that you get some sweet modeling opportunities and you aren’t playing a bunch of loyalist dorks. Not only do they provide a solid range of tactical depth, but they’re perfect for custom paint schemes and kit bashing as almost all their operatives can be easily substituted with an equivalent model from the various 40K Chaos Space Marine armies. Until the end of the Turning Point, each time a shooting attack is made against a friendly TZEENTCH operative, in the Roll Defence Dice step of that shooting attack, if you retain any critical saves, you can select one of your failed saves to be retained as a successful normal save. The Anointed’s already strong daemonic claw becomes truly horrifying, adding the Ceaseless trait to make their melee attacks incredibly reliable.

The Missile Launcher has two firing modes: Frag has a Blast radius of Circle/2 inches for area damage, and Krak has high critical damage and an Armour Penetration 1 Special Rule, making it a versatile weapon as far as heavy weapons go.The Traitor Legions were the most powerful component of the forces of Chaos which fought during the Heresy, which also included the myriad Daemons of the Warp, Human Traitors from the Imperial Army, the potent infantry and combat walker forces of the Dark Mechanicum and Chaos Cultists drawn from across the galaxy. This is especially nasty with weapons that do 6 or 7 damage on a critical hit, and can even be useful in mirror matches where it allows operatives like your ShriveTalon to kill opposing traitors with two critical hits. Icon of Chaos : While this operative is in the killzone, friendly LEGIONARY operatives cannot be injured. For one Turning Point, this lets Slaanesh-marked operatives resolve two succesful hits at once rather than one the first time they resolve a succesful hit when fighting in combat against an injured enemy operative.

The Aspiring Champion is a good combat Leader that can be equipped in many ways, and if you’re building your team from your existing Chaos Space Marines army, this is probably the model you already have – but I would still always go for the Chosen as my leader (see below). The first time an enemy operative is incapacitated, this Tac Op is revealed, and you place a token where that enemy operative fell, as well as everywhere an enemy is incapacitated for the rest of the battle. Allows operatives to move a maximum of 3 ⬤ in the same activation in which they perform a Shoot Action. The Legionary Heavy Gunner has access to 3 different special weapons, all of which has the Heavy Special Rule, so they can only shoot in an activation in which they haven’t made a move that’s not a Dash. Finally, the Tainted Chainsword has the Parry Hook special rule, which lets it use normal hit rolls that you parry with in combat to discard enemy critical hits rather than normal ones. Those who embrace this propensity become known as Shrivetalons, and they stalk the battlefield looking for enemies to torment.

Some worship Slaanesh, the God of Excess, seeking the most extreme sensations and emotions, often opting for theatricality and dragging out the torment of their foes rather than going straight for the kill. This can be used to upgrade the standard Marine profile by 1 attack and 1 critical damage, which is huge for your non-combat specialists allowing them to more reliably bully horde operatives in combat, or defend themselves against enemy specialists. Below you will find a list of the operatives that make up a LEGIONARY kill team, including, where relevant, any wargear those operatives must be equipped with.If you like having many different options and being able to change your playstyle a lot between games, the Legionary Kill Team might be the right team for you. For the duration of one Turning Point, all friendly operatives can Fight twice in an activation if they don’t perform a Shoot action in that activation. Some worship Nurgle, the God of Decay, steadily advancing across the battlefield with a grin on their face with unshaking faith in the slow corruption of all things by their venerated Grandfather Nurgle. This means the Icon-Bearer is more of a niche choice, finding a spot in situations where you want more bolter options in place of melee specialists. For many Kill Teams the Roster mechanic is often irrelevant, which is unfortunately not the case for Legionnaires.
