Putting it all together only required 4 bolts to be inserted from the bottom into the top and connected various cables to the motors. I find that concept super inefficient to use, since you still have to jump into the slicer itself to change any settings, but you’re like, not actually supposed to then use the slicer directly, but instead do your object arrangement and gcode saving through Repetier Host.

If the lead screw in the z-axis is off or bent by even a fraction of a degree, ribbing artifacts known as z wobble will manifest on the 3D print. The volcano hot end is capable of higher flow rates (because it can melt the plastic filament faster) meaning it can print fast if needed. out of the box, because as-is, the printer can’t move fast enough with its large glass bed and relatively heavy toolhead to make use of the Volcano’s higher meltrate, prints still take a long, long time to finish if you actually use this printer to make large parts, as intended. The Artillery Sidewinder X1 comes well packaged with charcoal foam surrounding all sides of the printer components.

We found the surfaces quite smooth, which indicates the extruder was exerting filament consistently, which helps with quality. All in all, 3D printers made by Artillery can be characterized as powerful machines that bring good value for their money. The Artillery Sidewinder X1 comes equipped with a ceramic coated glass bed which is very similar to Creality’s carborundum glass bed or Anycubic’s Ultrabase glass bed. It has the ability to recover from a power failure or brown-out and resume where it left off on the print! In the range of 3D printers with a print area of 300x300x400mm at less than 400€, this Artillery X1 is one of the most popular machines today, especially for those who are looking for a (rarer) direct drive machine for printing TPU type filament. The width and length are the measurements of the base and do not take into account the overhang of the printer head track.

While most of the parts are common with other 3D printer manufacturers, the ribbon cables are unique to Artillery, and users must source them directly from Artillery. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. In comparison, the Creality Cr10 V3 must print at 40mm/s due to its direct drive extruder and light frame. On the Sidewinder X1 we get a large 310×310 mm heatbed made from glass that has a textured finish on it. The transverse speed determines how 'fast' the print head can be moved from on print position to the next for multiple item printing. On top of it, the heatbed (or Y axis) runs on a 60x20mm aluminum extrusion which is great for stability. The cooling performance in the heatbreak area is not that great because they use a simple aluminium heatsink that is bolted to the mount.

Users may find it difficult to handle on their own and may need another person to help move the 3D printer around. The company entered the 3D printing market in January 2019 by launching the Sidewinder X1, a budget-friendly 3D printer that was largely recognized by the 3D printing community. Between the change in material for the filament guide, the downgraded hobbed gear and this, it seems like another one of those cases where a cloner will try replicate a part, but make little changes that don’t seem like a big deal to them, because they don’t know how the part actually works, but in reality, those changes do make quite a difference. I could keep on going here, like the touchscreen is alright, but it’s one of the worst translated and hastily-thrown-together interfaces on a printer these days, and even though the print quality and functionality as a 3D printer is fine, as soon as you look under the hood, it becomes a rather scary machine to use.Leveling is achieved by turning 4 knobs at the bottom corners of the bed to raise or lower the bed to the correct height. In the future, i also plan to add some sort of brace to the fr A unique feature of the Artillery Sidewinder X1 is its use of ribbon cables to connect its various electrical components, such as the stepper motors and hotend.
