About this deal

Our perceptions about foods are not based on fact and logic but are rather influenced by commercials and upbringing. If you eat a normal, nourishing, honest food at every meal, your sensory mechanisms quickly reset, your hunger abates, and you have no desire to eat exorbitant quantities anymore.

The book also begins by apologising for comparing emotional eating to drug abuse but promises that it will only be lightly used to illustrate a point. I am already aware of all of the reasons given for emotional eating and the repercussions and was hoping for something more complex or mind changing than the information given in this book. This is not difficult, however, as the desire for more is a mild sensation that is easily dismissed: unless, of course, you have fallen for the false belief that you are powerless around this substance, in which case the sensation becomes a full-blown craving that cripples you unless you respond.Since then he has built Easyway into an international brand with clinics in over 20 countries across the world, and developed his method into the most effective stop smoking therapy currently available. If you're a restricted dieter like myself, due to gut damage, I would say it's the restriction causing most of the problems, which of course this book doesn't address. A lot of food-related problems are emotional and changing the language we use with ourselves might help. They are not a pleasure, they are shackles as are any other drug/food-drug that robs us of our vitality and agency.

I don’t feel like that’s sustainable at all, and yes I do get pleasure from, for example, having birthday cake for DC birthdays, or having an ice cream on the beach, or a pudding after a special dinner out - and not doing the ‘junk’ food bit of those activities would make it less enjoyable yes!

Why has the obesity epidemic hit recently, when refined sugar and flour have been around for centuries? Their method is grounded in the shifting of mindsets and the removal of limiting self beliefs, which I agree are crucial to recovery. Honestly if you just cut out processed foods but eat when you want then your body and mind will naturally persuade you to eat one meal a day. Yet in most cases, the low is caused by bad sugar addiction and the dysfunctional effect it has on blood sugar levels.

There’s no practical advice for overcoming your impulses or urges simply because the book says “when you realise you’ve been brainwashed, you won’t have any urges”.I have no formal training in human nutrition (I have undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in an unrelated field). By following this book’s clear instructions, you can quit emotional eating without willpower or sacrifice.
