Montblanc Explorer is an unconventional fragrance that reveals a fresh Italian Bergamot, contrasted by a rich Vetiver from Haiti and an exclusive Patchouli from Indonesia. The composition has been expertly crafted by three Givaudan perfumers and is presented in an elongated bottle with a leather-like protective sheath printed with the Saffiano motif. Top notes of Bergamot and Sage give way to heart notes of Vetiver, Leather, and Sandalwood, as the base notes of Patchouli, Vetiver, Sandalwood, Vanilla and Styrax come together for a truly unique scent experience. Warm and resinous without being too sweet, the Montblanc Explorer is perfect for every occasion. To me, it looks like the mashup of the best details from the Creed Aventus and Dior Sauvage boxes. And as you may guess, this is the second hint of what Mont Blanc Explorer is trying to be.

Creed Aventus – the original creation of this scent profile and the most popular niche fragrance of all time. If you want the real deal, go with Aventus. The fragrance opens up with natural smelling Bergamot note reminiscent of fruity Aventus batches. It is uplifting, and ripe, and since this note is sometimes used to recreate Pineapple note, Aventus DNA is strongest at this point.Throughout these wonderful years as a fragrance enthusiast, I have always strived for more. It surely doesn’t push the game forward, yet it stays familiar with just above good enough quality to please everyone. Montblanc Explorer was created by three Givaudan perfumers: Jordi Fernandez, Antoine Maisondieu, and Olivier Pescheux. Yet, I had to know how close it was. Straight up, I’m gonna be honest with you. The first time I spayed Explorer, a big smile appeared on my face. Why? Because it captures the magic of the two perfume giants. From many things which are currently owned in my collection such as Musc Ravageur or Zaharoff Signature, Explorer beats them in this department easily. You have the exact same rubber finish that is meant to look like leather with the little Montblanc snowcap emblem on the front. The cap comes off quite nicely and the atomizer produces a nice mist. It’s focused and not too wide, just the way I like it.In this section, I’ll break down the most important aspects of this fragrance from the top to the bottom. Needless to say, Explorer smells like Creed Aventus and Dior Sauvage with subtle variety. I first sampled Montblanc Explorer when it was first released. As it immediately reminded me of Creed Aventus, one of our top 10 best men’s fragrances, I know that it would experience a lot of hype. Frustratingly, however, I didn’t get around to reviewing it until now!
