If you prefer not to have your dog’s ears plucked, just inform your groomer before their appointment.

When cleaning your dog’s ears, make sure you never clean too deeply into the ear as this can be painful for the dog.

If hair is not removed from the ear canal this can lead to ear infections and if overly grown may need vet assistance. To avoid damages in transit, please wrap the item well, preferably in bubble wrap, and then use a strong box or jiffy bag to send the item. Should your dog or cat have a painful ear condition or discharge from the ear, see your veterinarian. Keeping it short will prevent the hair from blocking the flow of air or getting tangled in any ear wax. If your dog has chronic ear infections, plucking inside their ears can help with air circulation, which helps keep moisture in the ear at bay.

Plucking the ear hair out will also mean that it is more easily visible if there is any infection or problem in the ear canal. Finally, it is a good idea to give the dog’s ears a final wipe out with some specialized ear wipes or clean with some ear cleaning solution.

The groomer does his ears every 8 weeks but they need doing in between as he has very very hairy ears.
