About this deal
This means your little one can't put pressure on the stirrups to lift themselves, but it also means their legs will be dangling, which could be uncomfortable over time on inner thighs. Rounding out the storage, there are stretch mesh pockets along the sides of the harness as well as at the bottom.

The Osprey Poco Series is covered by the Osprey All Mighty Guarantee which includes a 7 year warranty. Both backpacks have the fully adjustable shoulder and torso straps that easily adjusted to allow the packs to be fitted for tall or short wearers. The kids didn’t seem to prefer one over the other, and both loved the view from being up higher until they eventually dozed off. All told, the bag proven to be just about perfect for our family of four on full days (we’ve rarely maxed out the 26-liter capacity), and its size makes it suitable even for overnight adventures, provided another person can haul larger items like tents and sleeping bags. The Osprey Poco is more similar to our highest rated pack the Osprey Poco Plus but, the Osprey Poco LT has been designed with a completely different focus; to be lightweight and compact. On the other hand, the lower storage compartment on the Osprey Poco LT while roomy, does not fold in while wearing. Its ErgoRide child cockpit provides a great amount of under leg support to ensure the child’s weight is equally dispersed for extra comfort. Namely, the standard version sports open mesh rather than zippered hipbelt pockets, has a smaller capacity at 20 liters, and offers less adjustability at the hipbelt with no “Fit-on-the-Fly” Velcro system.

She just turned eight months and since she was able to sit balanced by herself, we decided it was time to introduce her to hiking. We also tested the rain cover (sold separately), which is fairly easy to install and works as expected. However, this is suited for a shorter frame/torso, it sit maybe 4 inches below my bra strap rather than on my hips. It was easy to find the right torso length, and the adjustment stayed in place once set, so there is no concern about going in to make adjustments once you hit the trail.

The main differences are the sunshade without side panels and a sparsely padded child cockpit/drool pad. This pack is intended to be as lightweight and compact as possible, therefore the lack of side pockets can be forgiven. The pack has a secure kickstand that firmly locks into place via two red clips to let you know it is locked and stable. The back panel is also constructed using Airscape, a mesh-covered extra deep foam, which provides maximum ventilation where contact with your back might get a bit sweaty. Rounding out the features, the included stirrups are a handy inclusion for longer days—our kids were uninterested in them until they were around 20 months, but then they became something they enjoyed—and there’s ample mesh along the sides for staying cool (more on this below). Both packs provide UPF 50+ sun protection but, the lack of Poco LT side panels leaves your child exposed at certain times of the day.

We also have a 4-year-old that gets the occasional ride, and lowering the seat is as easy as lifting the well-marked red handle near the top of the pack and pushing down on the seat. In addition, there are cutouts in the foam on the shoulder straps, and a lightweight mesh-like fabric covers both the hipbelt and shoulder strap padding. If you are looking for backpacks with similar features, check out the Thule Sapling Elite, Deuter Kid Comfort, or Deuter Kid Comfort Pro. If you're an avid hiker and envision longer or more intense treks with your little adventurer, we suggest going with the Kelty Journey PerfectFIT Elite.
