Use an item of clothing that fits you costume wearer to create your own pattern. These instructions will allow you to make this costume in any size! Dobby has many famous quotes. One of the most iconic lines spoken by the house elf is “Master has presented Dobby with clothes. Dobby is free.” This iconic line is spoken by Dobby in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets when he gains his freedom from the Malfoy family. Harry arrived early in the Room of Requirement for the last DA meeting before the holidays and was very glad he had, because when the torches burst into flame he saw that Dobby had taken it upon himself to decorate the place for Christmas. He could tell the elf had done it, because nobody else would have strung a hundred golden baubles from the ceiling, each showing a picture of Harry’s face and bearing the legend: HAVE A VERY HARRY CHRISTMAS! Yes, Dobby is a good house elf, even though he did serve the Malfoy family. Dobby’s actions demonstrate his kind-hearted nature and love for the ones he cares about. Even when he is enslaved by the Malfoy family, he would help Harry Potter and his friends.

The Dobby Costume is basically a wrap. I recommend using a fabric that doesn’t fray such as a knit or fleece. You can even use leftover quilt batting. It is certain to turn heads no matter where you go. Dobby speaks about himself in the third person ("Dobby will have to punish himself most grievously for coming to see you, sir.") and tends to get his verb tenses mixed up ("I has seven now, sir"). Dobby refers to Ron as Harry's "Wheezy." (GF)
