We all believe that it is time to enhance our relationship and work in partnership to have in place and develop the Community Centre into a facility our village deserves. Facilities: Markfield is an historic building at the heart of Tottenham’s Markfield Park. The community hub can be hired for birthday parties, corporate away days, meetings, training sessions or exercise classes! We continue to run the Mayflower Club, continue to support the excellent Markfield Good Neighbours Scheme and wherever possible other local community groups.

Markfield Community Association is no longer responsible for the running of Markfield Community and Sports Centre The name 'Leicester' would go on to cause confusion, as it isn't really near Leicester. Road signs provided on the A511 begrudgingly called it "Leicester Markfield services" as they told traffic to turn around to access it. Granada themselves usually called it "Leicester (Markfield)". The Markfield Community Association has run the Markfield Community and Sports Centre for the last thirty years.Facilities: The centre provides a service for people with a physical disability or sensory impairment. It offers a range of services and facilities to support and enable residents with disabilities and/or sensory impairment to manage their disability, maintain their independence and achieve control of their lives. Markfield Community & Sports Centre is open seven days a week and offers a comprehensive range of activities for all age groups. Markfield has a long association with the quarrying industry and has a particular type of granite, microdiorite named after it. The granite stone (microdiorite) 'Markfieldite' is a very hard granite found in the local area and used in roadstone and railway construction. The former headquarters of Aggregate Industries (now under the Holcim company) was in Markfield and in the last few years a major expansion of the Bardon Hill Quarry into the parish of Markfield has begun creating a large extension which will expand the life of Bardon for another 40 years. [ citation needed] The association spokesperson said, “We sincerely wish the Parish Council every success in this new endeavour and TOGETHER WE CAN DO IT”. After many years of running Markfield Community and Sports Centre, the charity, Markfield Community Association has handed over the reins to Markfield Parish Council.

Markfield Gardens is a quiet no through road towards the bottom of Kings Head Hill. If you lived here, you are within walking distance from the shops and amenities of North Chingford's Station Road and Chingford Station with its links to the Victoria Line at Walthamstow Central (15 mins) and London's Liverpool Street (25 mins) and because it's the end of the line, you'll nearly always get a seat. On 10 July 2020, EG Group closed the petrol station and the HGV and coach parking areas. All of the corporate branding has been removed from the now-empty forecourt. EG Group are instead investing in Browns Blue, a more reasonably-sized service area only half a mile to the west.Anyone using the parking facilities does so at their own risk. You are strongly advised to move your vehicle before 6pm. Get involved Facilities: The Centre offers community based activities such as a youth club, sawing and knitting club, and afternoon tea parties. We also offer hall hire at competitive prices for private functions (meetings, workshops, birthday parties), and have access facilities for disabled people. Situated in the centre of a popular north Leicestershire village, the centre plays host to multiple wedding and birthday functions as well as a wide variety of social and sporting events andis home to the Markfield Youth Club. Markfield has close links with the Methodist movement and according to a blue plaque on the church, its founder John Wesley paid 13 visits. He was allowed to preach in the parish church as he was friendly with the rector but crowds became so large, he would often preach on the village green. The parish church of St Michaels and all Angels is a grade II listed building. [5] There are two other churches, Holy Trinity Methodist chapel and the Congregational church but the original Methodist chapel (temperance hall) is no longer used. Euro Garages closed the main amenity building in 2014. This appeared to be a decision made at short notice, with posters and furniture still visible inside for a long time after. A small notice on the door explained that the building was closed.
