Tapping into the growing adult colouring book phenomenon, Pop Manga Coloring Book provides d'Errico's fans and colouring enthusiasts with a mix of profile images of d'Errico's characters, double-page spreads filled with details and wallpaper-like images with her stunning, surreal designs. She is the co-author of Pop Manga, the author of Pop Painting, and has published two art books - Femina and Fauna and Helmetgirls - with Dark Horse Comics. Camilla d'Errico's style is more loose and sketchy, and for some images you can tell she's tried to use the full space by adding backgrounds.

This would make a great gift for someone who loves to colour, or even someone who doesn't know they love to colour yet. I have enjoyed working in this book with different forms of media including markers, crayons, and color pencils but anything can be used for this book.Her own characters and properties, Tanpopo and Helmetgirls, are international sensations and her emotive paintings have propelled her to the top of the ranks of the Pop Surrealism art movement. While you will get a sense of how important this little guy is to Camilla it does take away from the overall aesthetic at times. I noticed in the reviews there is some confusion about whether it is a coloring book or an instructional book. These books are one-sided with nice weight paper to handle water-based markers, alcohol markers will bleed so be sure to place paper behind your projects. It is a different than a lot of the other coloring books out there and I think that it will provide colorists with some fantastic opportunities to explore with new ways of coloring.

The paper is thick so easily manages fineliners and gel pens without bleeding through, though heavy felt tips can be hit and miss. Honestly, I struggle the most with choosing colors, more than with any other part of my creative process. It is nice to have something in the background to colour, but d'Errico's style is not one to fill the page.

But this is not a criticism of d’Errico, whose artistic talent and unfathomable imagination results in truly unique images. Camilla can’t live without Holbein’s “DUO” water-soluble oils, green tea lattes, Hello Kitty merchandise, and her daily fix of manga and anime.
