About this deal

I wandered around a local shop and out of all the books there, I felt most intrigued by Moon Magic: Your Complete Guide to Harnessing the Mystical Energy of the Moon. I took it home and it sat of the shelves for a few weeks, but it’s such a gorgeous cover and I just couldn’t wait any longer to dive into it. At the same time, I had become more obsessed with astrology, and learning more about my birth chart. I’d been listening to a lot of podcasts (taking a break from audiobooks) about astrology (Fat Feminist Witch, Astrology Bytes, and Fearless Rebelle Radio all covered some astrology topics) and it just felt like perfect timing to read this book as well. I’ve also always wondered about the various names for the moons during the different months. Like for example WHAT THE HELL IS A BEAVER MOON??? WELL HERE:

The Little Book of Moon Magic: Working with the power of the

I have to start by saying thank you for this ARC as it is definitely a magical book. It is very well written and easy to follow whether you are a novice or an expert. The author takes you on a magical trip through crystals, herbs and spell casting. Learned a lot from this book and am so happy I read it. As I said above, I’m not very spiritual, but there are many simple rituals that I’d like to start encompassing in my life, in accordance with the moon. It can’t hurt to put a little more intention behind my thoughts and actions, right? In my research about my birth chart, I’ve learned and would have to agree that one of the biggest influences in my life is a thirst for knowledge and understanding about myself and those around me. I want to know everything- which I know is also a large reason as to why I’m such a reader! So, I’m curious to try some of the suggestions that Ahlquist mentioned in her book- such as journaling about certain things, for instance, like my sleep cycle and noting if a pattern emerges that works with the moon cycle.I am particularly pleased with the Planting with the Moon chapter; this is such a simple aspect of biodynamic agriculture but so many people forget the impact the Moon has on plants and the soil. I’ve often used lunar agrarian principles for my own garden and others’, but this chapter teaches me things I never knew and will definitely implement myself. Lilith Le Fay, one of the two central characters is more of a lightly detailed sketch than a fully fleshed out personality. She is also rather unappealing, having been given a cold predatory nature and seemingly no real emotions or desires of her own beyond surface level.

In this book, Lilith has acquired a small abandoned church and converted it for her purposes with the help of sympathetic old cabbie who is now her maintenance guy. The church had two secret upper rooms (cause the original owner was apparently a creep) which she turns into her spaces for worship. (With an “astral temple” built above it via her trained imagination.)There are magic cults that belong to specific LGBTQI groups, nowadays, who come together as outsiders or refugees from mainstream religion, seeking enlightenment and empowerment through their own rites and rituals. As this moon enhances communication with the spiritual world, any kind of ritual that is performed under the Full Moon will experience a boost of Power. Divination rituals are especially strengthened by this moon, like any personal spellwork that could use a major boost, including rituals for abundance, protection, love or wisdom. Your chances of success are greater than during any other lunar phase. Use the power of the full moon to cast any type of spell with confidence. Rachel also details how the moon is related to the Triple Goddess and includes a guided meditation for you to follow, she does this also for the Moon Dieties chapter where she shares short insightful information on some of the goddesses one may choose to work with.

Below we define the 7 Magical Phases of the Moon to work with for Moon Magic. In our book Moon Magic and Transformational Meditation, we use four of the phases of the moon. The combination of Meditation and Moon Magic create a rhythm and focus to our work. i've been out of the loop with magic(k) books for years, so it'll be a lot of trial and error for me! things that focus on herbs, oils, and just scented things and allergens in general just won't be useful to me. but i'd like to learn more about crystals, tarot, etc. things that don't require an open flame, going out in nature regularly, opening windows to let things out/in (bc it's just pollen to me lol), scented things, anything touching my skin... yeah anything but that is what i'll likely look into. The story keeps going over the same ground. Dr Malcolm goes to work where he is gruff and fiery to everyone. Dr Malcolm visits Le Fay and feels better afterwards. It is time to be cautious and use this lunar phase to rest. You can also use this opportunity to remove yourself from destructive relationships, negative behavior patterns or anything harmful in your life. Overcome melancholy and depression. Some Witches use this moon phase to cast spells for justice or against enemies (i.e. Baneful Magic). What I particularly loved about this book was the additional Moon Magic correspondences, such as crystals, oil recipes, herbs, colours, written guided meditation, spells and moon cycle ritual. I know from my own personal practice that it is such a huge relief now to have this "Go To Moon Magic Bible" to discover what crystals and herbs I should be working with in a particular moon phase. There are in depth chapters that focus on each of the moon phases; waxing, waning, full and new. However it also details how the waxing and waning gibbous moons can be worked with effectively, something I haven't seen in any pagan book that I have read.

After hearing about this book all over WitchTube, I finally decided to nab a copy for myself to see what all the hype was about. I was excited to learn more about how to work with the energy of the moon in my own personal practice. As someone who has always had an interest in astronomy, I already have some basic knowledge of things like moon phases and lunar phenomenon, so I was hoping to go a little more in-depth on the spiritual side of things. However, what I found was a fairly superficial examination of lunar magic and a lot of unrelated filler. Building your power and your knowledge, allowing knowledge to emerge from your unconscious mind and the supra-conscious. Testing yourself by pushing past your self-imposed limitations to evolve at a greater level. Transmuting and transforming your weaknesses, growing relationships with self and others. Through the course, we learn how to transmute the energy of anxiety and personal trauma into personal power. We install your energy recycler and teach you how to charge it with energy from each phase of the moon. We then learn to use that energy to manifest our desires and create the life we choose. The book and recordings of the meditations are now available. The Spiritual Meaning of the 7 Magical Phases of the Moon Defined: New Moon: Third, the author sets arbitrary rules and states them as facts that must be obeyed or else! For example, she gives info on vision boards and insists that overlapping images is a huge no-no because one time her friend had a bad result because of it.Overall, I thought Moon Magic was just okay. The author writes in a fairly easy way that feels like she's talking to the readers the way she would talk to friends which is especially welcome in a book for beginners. And there IS some worthwhile information for those just starting out. However, there is too much filler for me to recommend this as more than a library read. It's definitely not a necessary addition to your witchy bookshelf. I have yet to find a book on lunar magic that I'm truly in love with, so if anyone has any recommendations, I'm all ears! There’s a large section in this book on Moon Goddesses, but precious little about Gods with similar associations. It would’ve been nice to explore some of that. The section on the Goddesses is quite thorough and descriptive, if not exactly comprehensive.
