If you squeeze the bottle it’ll fill the cap up and as you can see in my video below I’m putting the required 240 ml of liquid into the filler. It’s specially designed to enhance the health of your grass (or plants) at home during the Summer months. Apply seaweed to new lawns as it is great for the soil. It can correct any pH irregularities as it can make the soil more alkaline. When added to a heavy clay soil, alginic acids in seaweed act as a flocculator. This means the fine particles clump together into a friable crumb structure, producing an improved growing medium. Adding it to a sandy soil improves the humus content and increases the nutrient levels. This goes to improve drought resistance.

In 1997, [1] the term biostimulant was defined in agriculture, designating biostimulants as “materials, other than fertilizers that promote plant growth when applied in small quantities”. So, biostimulants are natural products, besides fertilizers that help plants grow better. Mowing frequently is an important task when it comes to managing your lawn throughout the growing season. The lawn naturally gets more stressed as the weather warms up, so keeping it at a healthy height by mowing consistently will help to keep it stay strong and of course green. MULTIPURPOSE: Use it on absolutely everything, from lawns to vegetables, fruits to hedges, hanging baskets, trees, and houseplants. Generally, these kinds have about 50% calcium and the usual minerals, which are highly beneficial to plant growth. Most of the organic seaweed feed I use is absorbed through the leaves on your lawn. I apply it using a sprayer (it’s liquid) and I make sure that I use a fine nozzle for really accurate application. But the point is that the plant material is left in water until it breaks down into a liquid or becomes quite slurry. Sometimes it's a habitat for embryos of sea creatures, and other times, it serves as food so leave a handful. There is a growing demand for ‘natural’ and ‘organic’ plant feeds, and composts that are vegan as well as pet and child-friendly. This product claims to be all these things as it is derived only from plants. Wherever you stand on the eco-friendly properties, there is no denying that this concentrated liquid feed produces great, healthy plants. It has an NPK ratio of 4-1.5-4, which resulted in healthy plants that put on a good display of flowers.

The feeds we trialled came in various forms – most were concentrated liquids, but two were soluble granules. Miracle-Gro Liquafeed Concentrated Universal Liquid Plant Feed came in a bottle that attached to its own spray head. The concentrate was automatically mixed into the stream of water coming from the hose. Ecofective Organic Pour and Feed was a ready-to-use product that didn’t have to be mixed before use. Seaweed is not a true fertiliser. The nutrient content isn’t guaranteed or standardised. It is considered as more of a tonic, adding valuable vitamins and minerals. I use it in conjunction with regular fertiliser applications. But there are more benefits for the soil! Being a liquid product you can choose to apply it as a foliar spray to your plants in a couple of different ways. In all cases, you want to apply the liquid to the leaves until it starts to drip off.Seaweed fertilizers are organically compiled micronutrients that are natural, sustainable, and harmless.

Before you know it, the Spring has turned into Summer and the weather is now warming up. It’s now time to apply our ‘ droughtsafe’ clay soil fertiliser.

How to achieve a high scoring lawn without spending a fortune

Making your bed fertilizer would largely depend on how close you are to a beach. Or how else could you possibly get your hand on the significant raw material? Seaweeds! However, it’s inevitable that some of the feed will find it’s way into the soil. And actually, I don’t mind that at all.
