Laura Drake, Steena Holmes, Kimberly Belle, Cathy Lamb, Catherine Ryan Hyde, Barbara Claypole White This piece of literature was very interesting and contained excellent social, educational, political and moral debates around the ethics of cyber civil rights. The writer creates characters who are well drawn out and with a three dimensional consciousnesses of the central protagonists. Unlike many contemporary twenty first century writers, Ryan suitably uses the first person to create a provocative and emotive appreciation of the heroine. For me, as a female reader, I certainly appreciate and respect the protagonist's growth, maturity and journey toward self acceptance. This is definitely a worthy read for readers interested in discovering a defining piece of fiction in our 'Netizen' era; as a former teacher myself, I would certainly deem this syllabus worthy for a high school group of 15 and above.

Then we meet her new neighbor Finn. Finn is recovering from his own humiliating past resulting in his anti-social behaviour similar to Emma's. Together they will wade through their troubled pasts and exorcise demons. How insulting to families who have lost a child via abduction. I have never heard of a man abducting a child for any other reason than to sexually molest them and often kill them. This perp.'s wife dies and he loses his daughter After Emma’s disappearance, Megan started up the Walk Home Alone program. What do you think was the underlying reason for Megan starting up this program. In the beginning of the story, Megan is a tired mother, overwhelmed by the daily tasks of her life and her children. Were you able to relate to her when you first met her? With Emma returned to the family, they hope that they can all become whole again and heal from the collective trauma of losing her. But Emma is not the same as when they lost her. She is grown more and is not the same cheery toddler that they all recall. Worse, they realize that she has little to no memory of her parents and sisters.

Finding Emma Series by Steena Holmes - Goodreads

For well over a century, no one in her family lineage knew what led to the mysterious disappearance of a little girl named Emma from Garden River, an Anishinaabe community situated just east of Sault Ste. Marie. Courtnee Turner Hoyle is the award-winning author of My Brother's Keeper, Solomon's Tears, and Rasputin's Scorn, in addition to several short stories that have been anthologized. The culture and views of her Tennessee home have forced her to find her own perspective. While she may embrace the traditions of her area, she has set non-negotiable boundaries, especially against sweet tea and unannounced visitors. Courtnee graduated with multiple undergraduate degrees and a master's degree and developed unique ways of dividing the personalities of the people in her life to create quirky, relatable characters. Courtnee lives with her husband and numerous children, having adventures in homeschooling and tree climbing, and believes there is a story in every experience. In Deadly Seduction (only mentioning this movie bc it's very similar), the protag didn't actually believe someone close to her was capable of the crimes happening. This is in spite of the character humiliating her in her personal life. Very different from Alyssa, who by the end of this really doesn't deserve those people remaining in her life. I really didn't care for how both of them allowed her to get away with accusing them of crimes because of reasons she made up in her head...and ironically, it was a pretty clear example of what Emma's dad was saying. Grace nor Grant need a friend like Alyssa.

I thought Mia Goth's well-rounded performance of Harriet the best I have seen, and it is certainly difficult to take one's eyes off Anya Taylor-Joy in the titular lead. Other female performances are perhaps more so-so, although Chloe Pirie's harassed Isabella is interesting. The comedic Mr Elton would be well over the top in some adaptations but just about fits in here. Other male roles are adequately filled even though the portrayal of john Knightly is slightly bizarre. Bill Nighy is...well, Bill Nighy, this time with amazing costume. In 2012 she received the Indie Excellence Award. Holmes was inspired to write Finding Emma after experiencing a brief moment of horror when she’d thought her youngest daughter was missing. When Peter asks Megan to ‘let go’ of Emma, what was your immediate reaction? Was it right of Peter to give Megan the ultimatum of “Emma or me?”

As far-fetched as the circumstances were surrounding the kidnapping of young Emma, the film moved along at a brisk pace in large part due to the intriguing characters, including Alyssa's cop friend Grace, her boyfriend Grant, and her editor Susan. Talaga didn’t realize it right away, but Boissoneau and Hermiston were telling her about the same lost child. But Carol Hermiston, an Anishinaabe elder-in-residence at Algoma University and Nolan’s granddaughter, believes she has discovered the final resting place of her great aunt Emma more than 110 years later: in an unmarked grave inside a Catholic cemetery in Thunder Bay, Ont. Thompson had decided to reach out to Boissoneau, given his ancestral ties to Garden River First Nation. “I ended up meeting him at the cemetery,” Boissoneau says of Thompson. “He was sending all the information he could acquire throughout the years.” Dottie is a woman with a heart full of emotions but unable to express them unless through her journals.Steena’s husband inspired her to start writing when, in 2005, he prompted her to participate in a writing contest organized by Word Alive, where her romance entry won—a publishing contract. Romance, mystery and suspense are the niches of Steena—she has also a cover designer since 1995—whose literary influences include Karen Marie, Lawson Timmer, Kimberly Belle, and James Rollins. NY Times & USA Today Bestselling Author - Steena is the author of the heart wrenching Finding Emma series.
