With a wide cutting width that is suitable for medium to large gardens, five cutting heights and the option to mulch, this is a versatile machine. I’ve been blown away by the immaculate performance of this mower and in my DeWalt DCMW564P2 review, I’m going to tell you everything you need to know. Main Features I was initially reluctant to buy this mower because I wanted a higher-powered one running at 54V and was hoping DeWalt would soon release one. However when I called DeWalt to ask about it, I was told no such mower was on the cards, and that this mower was actually well-rated by customers. Having used it though, I think a 54V version is indeed needed, though I presume it’d have to run with the larger batteries to achieve reasonable runtime (12 Ah or 15 Ah). Or maybe running two 54V batteries in series to provide 108V would be the way to go? I hope the engineers are working on it.

If you have ever found mowing the lawn to be a chore, this mower will make it a much more enjoyable experience thanks to the wealth of impressive features. It comes with two 5.0Ah batteries that offer a very generous run time of up to 40 minutes and can be power-shared across the DeWalt range. However, if you already have a vast collection of batteries, there is also the option to buy the bare model, the DeWalt DCMW564N.This was my first electric mower. It doesn’t feel quite as powerful as a petrol mower, but if you're sensible with it—choos ... Read more ing the right length of cut and not trying to plough through a jungle—I found that it's powerful enough. I certainly don’t miss pulling the starter cord, messing around with petrol cans, fumes, gunked-up spark plugs and all that other nonsense.

The grass bag is lightweight and made from mesh fabric meaning that it is also much easier and compact to store. Despite being fabric, this is a heavy duty grass bag that will stand up to a lot of mowing. In addition to this, the ergonomically designed handle offers comfort and easy access to the controls across the width of the handle. This is ideal for both left and right-handers and of course, for operating around corners single handed. There is a conveniently placed power actuation button making the mower easy to switch on and off. Furthermore, the handle folds down for easy and compact storage, and is made from aluminium making it lightweight, yet incredibly robust. Performance is good, in that the mower is reasonably quiet (certainly quieter than my old petrol mower) and it seems able to handle slightly damp grass. So far, there is no evidence of "tugging" clumps of grass, which my previous mower would do from time-to-time.Now that I’ve got an electric Makita mower (DLM464), I can compare the pros and cons of each, which I hope will be useful to others. Without getting into the optional extras, the mower gives a standard range of features (height adjustment, mulching, etc.) which will be fine for probably the majority of situations. Probabaly one thing that could be improved is the basket capacity, which seems a little on the small side.
