Novitiates still remain as one of the best teams in the game who have a plethora of effective special abilities. At the same time they have a high skill threshold as they are not forgiving towards players who use them carelessly. Acts of Faith will save you through the odd automatic critical hit or save, but they will not rescue you from poor placement/tactics in the same way Hardy or other in-built bonuses will do for other teams.

Another interesting mix, with two Talons of the Emperor teams, Void Dancers, Intercessors, Legionnaires, Navy Breachers, and two Blooded teams. Again, a healthy mix that offers more variety. The Novitiate Superior is ably supported by a number of specialist squadmates who really could only find a place on the battlefields of the 41st Millennium. Take the Novitiate Exactor, the only “covert operative” in history to dual-wield neural whips. Until then I hope I could help you on deciding which operatives from the Sister Novitiates Kill Team to build and how to assemble those under the help of a little kit-bashing. Legionnaires – Many of the same issues one finds when going up against Intercessors, but leaning more towards melee specialists such as the Shriv-Talon or Champion that can easily outclass yours in combat. Saving your Faith points for Vengeful Strike can be the difference between winning or losing when up against ploys like Mutagenic Flesh . Otherwise save ploys such as Sanctified Rounds or Burning Wrath against non-Nurgle operatives. CSelect an objective marker more than 6” from your drop zone. If you hold it at the end of a turn score 1VP, if you hold it at the end of the battle score 1VP. Inferno represents setting your enemies on fire. Inferno weapons have Inferno X, X being the number of Inferno tokens a model receives if you scored a critical hit. At the end of the turn, roll a dice for each Inferno token, and for every 4+ you roll, you score a mortal wound. Once this is resolved remove the Inferno tokens. This is a nice little bonus to make flamers nastier and it fits in very nicely with the lore for Sororitas.

Blessed Rejuvenation: When a friendly NOVITIATE operative is activated, it regains D3 lost wounds. This Act of Faith can be used a maximum of two times in each activation. Range – Being heavy on pistols also means that the team has a pretty short range. And though you have ways to get around that with ploys, it’ll still cost you. If you’ve seen the 40k Kommandos datasheet you’ll remember how annoying it is, with six different bullet points of different gear to make sure that if you built the cool options for specialists in Kill Team, everything had specific rules that conformed to exactly what’s in the kit. Judging by the new Novitiates datasheet released on Warhammer Community, someone may have realised this was getting a little out of hand – they have stuff they can take, sure, but the Kill Team Specialists here have a lot going on – there’s a trainee Dialogus, one with neural whips, one with an Eviscerator, a big old mace/censer, a condemnor boltgun, some duelling blades. The rules team have resisted the urge to translate this into 40k terms, and the Novitiates in that game can take a few bits of gear, but most of it gets rolled up into “autoguns” or “Novitiate melee weapons.” This is an incredibly sensible decision; you can build the stuff you want to play Kill Team and not find your squad is useless for 40k because you put 100pts of upgrades on a 75pt unit. We’ll have to wait and see if this plays out on the T’au side, with their new codex trailed for “early next year” on Warhammer Community this week, and we might end up seeing some of their upgrades integrated into a new 40k datasheet – the Medical Technican and Transpectral Interference Pathfinders both have shades of the Helix Adept/Comms Array guys from their sort-of equivalents, Infiltrators – but it’s nice to see a bit of restraint exercised here. Sometimes you just want to use your guys (or girls) without each one having a slightly different gun or extra thing they do.All of this fervour and piety does actually pay off, you see. The more zealous your Novitiates are in the prosecution of their duties – skulking around, sneaking about, covertly chunking enemy operatives with giant swords – the more points you earn to spend on Acts of Faith. And what do faith points mean? Re-rolls and extra crits. Devotion pays dividends. Faith points can be subtracted so that friendly NOVITIATE operatives can perform Acts of Faith listed below. Each Act of Faith will specify when it can be used, its effect and how many Faith points you must subtract from your total to use it. If you cannot subtract the required Faith points from your total, you cannot use that Act of Faith. Overall, we feel the Kill Team meta was pretty healthy in May, with a good variety of teams doing well. Going forward, we will keep our finger on the pulse and monitor things closely in Q3.

It’s a trainee murder nun with a flamethrower and dakka dash. Ministorum flamers are 5 dice, 2+, 2/3 damage, six inch range, Torrent and Inferno 1, so they’re a bit better than normal flamers. You can take two in a team, and I would advise you do. These are great for clearing out hordes, have a fifteen inch threat bubble built into them, and can chip away at tougher enemies as well, and there is a tactical ploy to make them even better. And then finally we have the LVO 2023 Championships, an 87-player, 7-round event that took place in Las Vegas on January 28th. In contrast to our last two events, this event featured only Open terrain, so players did not have to build for or worry about Gallowdark play: In the B Tier we have factions which haven’t seen top 8 finishes but are close to being able to make it. They may need a little help and have problems in too many matchups to consistently win without a discrepancy in player skill to overcome the faction differences. There is so much variety in the team I had problems choosing, but this is the selection I’d take against Tau or similar guard equivalents. Courier – Escort Operative but easier, no Turning Point restriction, and you don’t need to be as close to your opponent to score the second point. It still runs into the issue that once the courier is declared he runs the risk of being killed. CA good model to take and unlike the Penitent fire team in the Compendium, it isn’t tactically limiting like having half your kill team with no guns is. Novitiate Pronatus
