If your copier or printer paper is compatible to print on both sides, then using the backside will be fine for practising.

Both sides of the paper are pressed between felts (in the case of rough and cold pressed papers), or between hot metal rollers (for hot pressed papers) later on during production, which evens out much of the difference between the two sides. Simply trace your work with this bleed-proof marker paper in fair lighting and put it onto the sheet.

An explanation of the differences between both types of paper includes a lot of shared characteristics. Watercolour paper is a versatile surface which has a degree of absorbency that allows transparent colour to appear its most luminous. There are a lot of high-quality sketchbooks, but mostly it’s not just about the quality, it’s about the artist’s personal preferences. The paper is acid-free, super smooth, 180 gsm thick, absolutely white, and perfect for technical pens, inks, pens, and, of course, markers.

That’s why the paper for acrylics, gouache, and watercolor is a no– no: they are meant to soak up as much liquid as possible. The lack of bleed-through may also be achieved by the special cover that the paper has, so if it’s that type of paper, that’ll do as well. Moreover, you can use it for embossing and die-cutting to create embellishments for gift bags, tags, and more. You use less ink in the long run because it stays on top of the paper surface and looks like an actual acrylic painting once dry. The fewer the fibres per unit area, as well as their smaller surface area (both later due to a more elongated shape), the less likely a paper is to bleed through or show through.

Silky smooth surface promotes easy blending, effective bleeding prevention, no visible feathering, ample drawing space, affordable marker sheet pad, semi-translucent paper shows guides underneath, thin yet bleed-proof. Fibres in papers are held together by lignin, a complex organic compound that helps bind and strengthens them during their formation and drying.Despite it being quite cheap and simple printing paper that can be found anywhere, it works surprisingly well with markers and will be good for you if you need a lot of practice.

I recommend Copic Sketch Markers or Copic Wide Sketch Markers over other brands of markers, but the Prismacolor Premier double-tipped markers also work well. is measured by their weight, in grams per square metre (gsm) - the thinner the paper the lower the gsm. The best paper to use with Copic markers should possess at least two characteristics: smoothness and thickness. The dye penetration ratio is essentially a measurement of how well a marker can penetrate the surface of a paper during colouring.
