Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets — PS1Now, now — relax. If you bombed down this list to find out where Chamber of Secrets landed and are mere words away from throwing a slur at me in the comments, note that this entry is about the PS1 version of the game. Trust me, no one harbours intensely strong feelings for the PS1 version of Chamber of Secrets — not even its developers, unless apathy counts as an intense feeling. For me, one of the best parts of this “RPG” was getting to customize my character with relative freedom. All videogames have been released with the exact titles its film counterparts have in the US. Versions for different platforms of the same title may differ severely; for example, the first two titles ( Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets) each have five completely unrelated versions by different developers, while the third title ( Prisoner of Azkaban) has three. From the fourth title on, multiple versions of a single title across platforms are much more similar, but still have minor differences. By the end of the game, you’re free-roaming and completing side quests like it’s a full-blown RPG, but somehow it’s 2002 and this is somehow a licensed title from EA. You have an active tally of your house points running throughout the game as you play. You have hidden shortcuts that actively change your route through the castle. You can play a season’s worth of Quidditch like it's FIFA career mode, and it’s not even completely terrible! Hogwarts is no longer a safe haven for students. Dumbledore is more intent than ever on preparing Harry for a battle with Voldemort; meanwhile, love may be in the air, but tragedy looms, and Hogwarts may never be the same again.Chamber Of Secrets does what any sequel game should do: it takes everything that was great about the first, expands upon it, and does everything better. From fighting Aragog the spider to solving puzzles in the castle, Chamber Of Secrets is simply better in every way. The original trilogy of EA games reached the absolute peak of perfection. It couldn't possibly get better than Chamber Of Secrets, but, surprisingly, The Prisoner Of Azkaban is pure gold. Rather than just playing as Harry, the player could control all three main heroes, including Ron and Hermione.

Want to experience being a student at Hogwarts but don't want to wait for Hogwarts Legacy? Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is a mobile game that should do the job until, then. Obviously, since it is a mobile game, it won't have the greatest gameplay in the world, but it is fun to experience the Wizarding World this way. Despite not being quite as good as its sequel, HP and the Philosopher’s Stone deserves an enormous amount of credit for resisting the trend of terrible cash-grab movie tie-in videogames that used to plague the scene.
