These coatings are UV, aqueous, matte, glossy, and foil sheets. Gold and silver foiling adds a luxurious touch to the best chocolate gift box. Applying numerous colors and styles in an exciting theme is an excessive way to stand apart. Place the chocolate pieces in the top pan of a double boiler or in a heat safe mixing bowl over a saucepan or bottom double boiler filled with about an inch of simmering (not boiling) water. You can serve the refrigerated chocolate strawberries chilled or let sit at room temperature for 30 minutes. Chilled strawberries will have a nice crunch to the chocolate, whereas room temperature strawberries will have slightly softer chocolate. You might also like these Chocolate Recipes: Use ripe strawberries that are bright red (with minimal whiteness on the tips) so they are not only beautiful but flavorful as well. Take care your strawberries aren’t too ripe or they will be mushy.

Eat them ASAP. This is probably a “duh” statement, but these have a very short shelf life! I think Chocolate-Covered Strawberries are best within a few hours of dipping, and when possible should be eaten the day they are made. Of course, there’s nothing in the ingredients list that means they can’t survive 2-3 days in the refrigerator, but I find the taste and texture to be best when they’re eaten soon after they’re assembled. If desired, melt some white chocolate chips, peanut butter, Coconut Butter, or almond butter. Use a spoon to drizzle it over the hardened chocolate strawberries. Or pour the melted chocolate into a plastic bag, cut a tiny bit off the side of the bag to make a small hole, and squeeze the chocolate out in a swirl or your preferred design. The chocolate berries can be made ahead of time by a few hours or up to a day. If serving the day they are made, it is best to leave uncovered and to not refrigerate. However, if the chocolate covered strawberries will be sitting out for over eight hours, they should be stored in the refrigerator or freezer for freshness. Wash and dry strawberries VERY WELL. Your strawberries must be completely dry before dipping otherwise the moisture will cause the chocolate to seize and turn lumpy and solidify. Melt your chocolate, either in a microwave or using the double boiler method below. For a smoother sauce, I like to stir in the optional oil after melting the chocolate.Dip each strawberry into the liquid chocolate, either holding it by the stem or using a skewer, spoon, or fork.

If you still need a last minute Mother’s Day treat, dessert or gift, I’ve got you covered with Chocolate Peanut Clusters, Chocolate Fondue and these simple yet elegant Chocolate Covered Strawberries! Even though Chocolate Dipped Strawberries look fancy, they are one of the easiest desserts to make and belong in your dessert arsenal. Chocolate Covered Strawberries enveloped in luscious decadent chocolate are super easy to make with only 3 ingredients!Chocolate Covered Strawberries only require 3 ingredients so it is important to use quality chocolate – and your Chocolate Covered Strawberries will still be less expensive than store bought! Stop microwaving the chocolate when almost all of the chocolate is melted but not completely then vigorously stir to melt the remaining chocolate until smooth. This keeps you from overcooking your chocolate. For best results, don’t refrigerator your strawberries unless necessary. Set chocolate at room temperature and store at room temperature. If you are in a warm climate and need to refrigerate your strawberries to set, then allow 15-30 minutes to harden in the refrigerator, then remove. Chocolate does not like being cold. The new method of customization in theme printing these days is treasured by everyone. Different images and themes print over boxes for chocolate-covered strawberries according to the occasion and event, making them more attractive. With laminated coatings, these boxes generate extra glam. For one thing, Valentine’s Day is just a month away ( ahem, subtle hint for my blog-reading husband right there) and nothing says loooooove like a big plate of chocolate-covered berries.

Prep everything. You want your strawberries, workspace and all toppings prepped so once you your chocolate is melted there is no time between dipping, coating and placing. To prep, simply line a baking sheet with parchment paper (so its easily transportable) and make all of your coating preparations such as chopping, toasting etc. then place coatings in dippable bowls. Whether it’s a themed gathering or would like to enhance your customized theme print, these boxes can be something one absolutely want to be sending their gifts in.Just Say No to Water. You’ll want to wash your berries before you eat them, of course. But make sure your berries are COMPLETELY dry before you dip them. Damp berries, or even just a stray water droplet here or there, can cause your melted chocolate to seize. What does that mean? It means your pretty, glossy, fluid chocolate will turn into a lumpy mess. You won’t be able to dip your berries. You will try gnawing on the chocolate tumors, but it will feel like a hollow victory. You will be sad. Dip, baby, dip. My biggest strawberry pet peeve is probably the little puddle of liquid that sometimes forms around the base of the strawberries. Groooosssss. It’s not possible to avoid this entirely, but if you want to give yourself a fighting chance, make sure your chocolate has a good seal around the berry. I like to dip the strawberry, let the excess drip off into the bowl, scrape the bottom gently against the lip of the bowl—just to remove excess! not to scrape down to the berry itself!—and place it on a parchment-covered sheet. The scraping keeps it from forming a chocolate foot, but if you’re gentle about it, you can still make sure the berry is well-sealed and help prevent that weeping. 💖More Romantic Desserts! Long known for its gourmet gift baskets and gold foil-wrapped Comice pears, Harry & David is still a go-to for high-quality, tastefully designed fruit baskets and boxes that will make anyone who opens it feel special. Use high quality chocolate for best results. I used semi-sweet chocolate but you can use milk, white, bittersweet, etc. or a combination. White chocolate coated in red sprinkles or stripes or crushed candy canes is fabulous for the holidays. Drizzle with white chocolate if desired: If drizzling with white chocolate, you will want to wait until the Chocolate Covered Strawberries are set. Melt white chocolate according to either the stove or microwave method above. Transfer white chocolate to a sandwich size plastic bag, snip a very small tip off the corner of the bag and drizzle or create patterns. Let the white chocolate set at room temperature.

The other ideas involve mixing dark and white chocolate to beautiful effect. If you swirl them together just a bit in a bowl, and then dip the berry in the swirled chocolate, you can create a really lovely marbled pattern on the berries. I love this one because it’s so simple, but it looks really striking, and every berry is completely unique! You can also mix it up and use any colors you like—so for Valentine’s Day you could marble with pink, red, and white! Line a baking tray or large plate with parchment paper or wax paper, and set it aside. Or get out a piece of Styrofoam (see below). Make someone feel extra special by creating your own customized box or arrangement with the fruit of your choice, such as a bundle with a bouquet of pineapple flowers and chocolate-dipped strawberries topped with ground hazelnuts or confetti sprinkles. For an extra treat, add a chocolate pop printed with a themed message. Chocolate Covered Strawberries are best served fresh, the same day they are made and stored in a cool place – not in the refrigerator. If stored longer than a day, the berries gradually release moisture so they will gradually get mushy. As far as the type of chocolate, it is entirely your preference: semi-sweet, milk, white, bittersweet, etc. or a combination (for example 4 oz white, 4 oz. semi-sweet.) How to Make Chocolate Covered StrawberriesAside from Mother’s Day, silky Chocolate Covered Strawberries are fabulous for Valentine’s Day, bridal showers, baby showers, gifts or any party – because everyone loves Chocolate Covered Strawberries with their subtly crunchy chocolate coating giving way to succulent, juicy strawberries. LOOKING FOR MORE STRAWBERRY DESSERT RECIPES? Follow same instructions for melting white chocolate as for semi-sweet chocolate. Transfer white chocolate to a sandwich size plastic bag, snip a very small tip off the corner of the bag and drizzle or create patterns. To emphasize: The water goes in the bottom pan. Do not let any water touch the chocolate chips in the top pan.
