This setup worked well enough for a few days / runs with no noticeable issues. At one point though, I tried running the heater with a set temperature, which made it work in a low power mode. I think this caused some issues, as the next day the heater had trouble starting, and some smoke came out. I attached a different, short exhaust pipe just to test, and the heater was able to start again, and a large chunk of carbon was found in the pipe after I did the test. I can only assume that there is some significant carbon buildup somewhere in the long exhaust pipe which is causing the issue. I will have to un-route the exhaust and see if that is the issue at some point. When exhaust leaks occur, the hot gases that are supposed to be expelled through the exhaust system can escape into the surrounding area. This can lead to a buildup of carbon monoxide, a highly toxic gas that can be deadly if inhaled in large quantities. Carbon monoxide poisoning is a serious concern and can cause symptoms like headaches, dizziness, nausea, and even death. Taking proper care of your diesel heater exhaust pipes is essential to ensure their longevity and optimal performance. Regular inspection and cleaning, as well as repairing or replacing damaged parts, are key maintenance tasks that should not be overlooked. In this section, we will delve into these maintenance tips in detail. Regular Inspection and Cleaning These heat exchangers are mounted in the boiler via a plate with O-Ring seals on, so they don’t really have fittings – just holes in the end plate. Solving this problem was simple – braze on some copper fittings with 55% silver brazing rod. The 22mm is the exhaust side, while the 15mm is the water side. First Test

Battery Insulation Kit Excessive engine bay or exhaust heat can dramatically shorten the life of your expensive battery. This can not only cost you money, it can also leave you stranded at the side of the road. That could be ok in the city but these things have a way of happening when you are a million miles from help. The new Kool Wrap Battery Insulation Kit is a simple and very effective way to insulate your car battery from excessive or damaging exhaust or engine bay heat. Incorporating these upgrades into your diesel heater exhaust system can greatly enhance its overall performance and provide a more satisfying heating experience. The insulation for heat retention reduces heat loss, improves efficiency, and prevents excessive heat buildup, while the addition of a muffler or silencer creates a quieter and more enjoyable atmosphere. Heat Proof Paint Genuine VHT high temperature paint can be used in many applications including sealing our exhaust wrap tapes, rust preventative on exhaust pipes, extractor or header paint, coat piston domes and combustion chambers, chimneys, or painting fireplaces and stoves. When it comes to dealing with diesel heater exhaust pipes, safety should always be a top priority. Proper ventilation in enclosed spaces and the use of carbon monoxide detectors are crucial measures to ensure the well-being of both individuals and the surrounding environment. Proper Ventilation in Enclosed Spaces My question is, is there any possible way to run an exhaust this long safely using one of these heaters? Are there any booster fans which might allow it to work, or any other methods? Could you fit a fan to the combustion air inlet to achieve the same effect? I don't have too many good mounting options available, so thats why I was trying to make it work.

Locating the heater

One of the significant advantages of galvanized steel exhaust pipes is their affordability. Compared to stainless steel, galvanized steel offers a cost-effective solution without compromising on durability. This makes it an attractive option for those on a budget or looking for a reliable exhaust pipe material without breaking the bank. Not only does the addition of a muffler or silencer create a more peaceful environment, but it also helps to comply with noise regulations, especially in residential areas or campgrounds where excessive noise can be a concern.

When installing a diesel heater exhaust pipe, it is important to ensure sufficient clearance from combustible materials. The high temperatures generated during the combustion process can pose a fire hazard if the exhaust pipe is too close to flammable objects, such as walls, ceilings, or insulation. Additionally, galvanized steel exhaust pipes exhibit good heat resistance properties, making them suitable for use in diesel heaters. They can effectively handle high-temperature exhaust gases without warping or deteriorating over time. Moreover, galvanized steel is known for its strength and impact resistance, ensuring that the exhaust pipes can withstand the rigors of daily use without any structural issues. It is also recommended to install carbon monoxide detectors in areas where diesel heaters are used. These detectors can provide an early warning in case of any leaks, allowing for prompt action to be taken to rectify the issue and protect the occupants of the space. Stainless Steel Tie Straps The Kool Wrap stainless steel tie straps are reusable straps that can be used to secure our exhaust wrap tapes around exhaust pipes or other hot objects.Discover the benefits of using the right exhaust pipe for your diesel heater. From improved ventilation to reduced carbon monoxide risk, proper installation and maintenance are crucial for safety and performance. Choose between single wall and double wall options for optimal results. Types of Diesel Heater Exhaust Pipes The additional layer of insulation provided by double wall exhaust pipes offers several benefits. It helps to reduce the external temperature of the pipe, making it safer to touch and minimizing the risk of accidental burns. Additionally, the insulation helps to improve the overall efficiency of the diesel heater by minimizing heat loss. Ideally, the exhaust pipe should be positioned vertically, as this allows for natural convection and the upward movement of the exhaust gases. This vertical positioning also helps prevent condensation buildup, which can lead to corrosion and other issues. However, if a vertical installation is not feasible, the exhaust pipe should be angled slightly upwards to ensure the proper expulsion of gases. Install the replacement part: Carefully install the replacement part, ensuring it is securely connected and aligned with the rest of the exhaust system. Use appropriate clamps or connectors to ensure a tight seal.
