In an age of auto tuned singers and new albums sounding as if they were made to measure it is a pleasure to hear that the old masters are still working hard at their craft. I have a certain idea, why he did so. The original song was written and produced by the (in)famous Phil Spector. I presume, that that guy was one of Parson's most important musical heroes, and "Don't Answer Me", The Alan Parsons Project's greatest hit from 1984, maybe was influenced by "Be My Baby" and other Spector classics. Just a notion. From the New World is, Parsons explains, a particularly significant title for him, chosen based on several factors. Towards the end the album gets a bit darker with themes of death in "Goin' Home", which is beautifully song, but then takes a strange twist with Ronette's cover of "Be My Baby"
