In the film adaption of Stormbreaker, he was portrayed by Jimmy Carr, with the character's name changed (by an unusual request from the real MI6) to "John Crawford". In the TV series, he is played by Ace Bhatti, once again under the name "John Crawley". On a coveted holiday destination just off the coast of Cuba, a mad general has intentions to undo history—and only Alex can stop him.Alex does not like horse riding. This is a notable irony about Alex, as his name is Rider - and riding is the only sport he hates. [18] Owen Andrews is a minor antagonist in Nightshade, the assistant of Dominic Royce. He is placed undercover in MI6 by Royce because of a leak in the intelligence community. He exposes Mrs. Jones' use of Alex to Royce, who disbands them and places Jones and John Crawley under house arrest, and gives Andrews a week's vacation in Costa Rica, with Crawley warning Andrews that he will make sure he regrets his betrayal for the rest of his life. Later when MI6 is reformed, it is revealed that a drunken Andrews was arrested after being found on a beach in a Batman costume with a five hundred gram bag of cocaine concealed in the cape (all of which was set up by Crawley). He is last mentioned to be facing up to ten years in prison. Despite the crew's best intentions, Alex uses one of his exploding Baht coins to damage the Liberian Star's cargo refrigeration unit, and escape. It is later revealed, when Alex is captured and forced to attend dinner with Major Yu, that Yu himself killed de Wynter, th Sayle's dislike of the UK, and especially the British schoolchildren and Prime Minister, is a strong contrast to Winston Yu, the antagonist of Snakehead, who is obsessed with Britain and liked being brought up in a British public school (in his case, Harrow). He was only ever bullied on one occasion (the bully was then assassinated by his mother).

Kaspar is the second major antagonist to still be alive after the main antagonist of the story (Nikolei Drevin) is killed. The first was Yassen Gregorovitch, who first killed Herod Sayle himself in Stormbreaker, and later died in Eagle Strike shortly after the main antagonist, Damian Cray, was killed. His role in the series has been compared to that of Alec Trevelyan (aka Agent 006/ Janus) from the James Bond movie GoldenEye. Alex met Sabina at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships in Britain. The two became friends and Alex started liking her but she was interested in older men. When she grows suspicious about Alex's disappearnces and Alex tells her the truth about his being a spy, sorta like James Bond, she thinks that it is a joke. In the epilogue of Skeleton Key, Sabina introduces Alex to her parents and takes him to dinner. According to Alex, the day was cloudy and grey before he met Sabina but, after he met her it turned out to be a sunny day. [19] In Eagle Strike, Sabina invited Alex to spend his summer vacation with her in Cornwall. She expresses her feelings for Alex, kissing him a couple of times and telling him more than once that she thinks he is attractive. After her father is targeted, Alex tries to tell her that he really is a spy but, she refuses to believe him and gets angry when he insists it’s the truth. After they are kidnapped by Damian Cray, however, she apologizes to him. She leaves with her family to live in America soon after. Though she insists that they can still be friends or more, Alex does not believe her and thinks that this is the end of their relationship. [21] In the TV series, however, their relationship is highly underrated. As Skeleton Key was not included in the TV series, a large part of their relationship was cut. Sabina was very rude to Alex when he told her that he was in fact a spy and did not even give an appropriate apology later. In the aftermath, she simply told him that she liked him and Alex hugged her. [20] Tom Harris When John Rider, Alex's father, came to work for Scorpia, Julia fell in love with him, but after he was discovered to be a double agent, Julia plans to kill him. She assigned Ash to kill his friend to prove that he is ready to join Scorpia.Alex continues to investigate when Cray finds out what Alex is doing and forces him to take part in a real life replica of Cray’s video game. Before he escapes, he does some searching and steals the flash-drive he had seen Cray with before he was caught, knowing it was important. A furious Cray then kidnaps Sabina on Yassen’s advice to force Alex to return the flash-drive to him. Cray reveals his plan to launch 25 nuclear missiles and destroy all the drug sources in the world, claiming drugs to be “the greatest evil”. Alex and Sabina are then taken hostage by Cray and forced onto Air Force One, the Presidential Plane, where Cray can authorize the missiles release on. Yassen is shot dead when he refuses to kill Alex, though he is avenged moments later after Alex pushes Cray into the plane’s engine, killing him. Yassen tells Alex to find Scorpia before he dies, while Sabina disables Cray’s missile launch. Sofia Jones (Number Six): The long-lost daughter of Mrs. Jones, who was partnered with Freddy Grey on the assassination that eventually led to Nightshade's exposure. She and Freddy appear to be romantically interested in each other.

Major Winston Yu is one of the members of the executive board of Scorpia, and the main antagonist of the novel Snakehead. He was asked by Zeljan Kurst, another board member of Scorpia, to command operation "Reef Encounter". This involved generating an artificial tsunami to destroy Reef Island and the west coast of Australia by detonating a stolen bomb named "Royal Blue" between two underwater tectonic plates when they are most vulnerable. He was the superior of Anan Sukit, but apparently inherits control of the Bangkok Snakehead when Ben "Fox" Daniels kills Sukit. Yu suffers from brittle bone disease, which makes his skeleton highly unstable. His mother named him after Winston Churchill. In the film Stormbreaker, Blunt was portrayed by Bill Nighy, and in the TV series he is portrayed by Stephen Dillane. In Kenya when Alex escapes McCain sends Njenga after Alex. Njenga chases Alex until the dam. Alex makes the dam explode and Njenga falls to his death and his body is washed away.

Cray takes the two teenagers with him when his men seize Air Force One, and shoots Gregorovich when the Russian refuses to kill the children. He then fires at Alex, seemingly killing him, and gets into a fight with Sabina. This is interrupted when Alex recovers (having worn a bulletproof vest), and with Sabina, shoves Cray out of the plane and into one of the turbines, vaporising him instantly and forcing the pilot (Henryk) to make a crash landing.

Tom Turner (named Glen Carver in the US version of Skeleton Key) is a minor protagonist in Skeleton Key. Like Belinda Troy, he is a CIA agent, sent to Cuba with Troy and Alex, to investigate General Alexei Sarov. Turner and Troy object to Alex being sent with them. They often ignore his opinions and treat him as a hindrance, even after Alex saves Turner from The Salesman. He reveals nothing about his personal life, other than he is a former Marine, and dreams of dying for his country. He and Troy are killed when trying to infiltrate Sarov's headquarters through the "Devil's Chimney", a hidden underwater tunnel. They are killed by the traps which are disguised as stalactites. Turner is described as "about forty, a handsome man, with fair, close-cropped hair, blue eyes and a face that managed to be both tough and boyish". He is also mentioned as Tom Turner in the US of Ark Angel.

Before Alex was forced to join MI6, he wanted to be a professional footballer, but is now unsure of what he wants to do when he finishes school, once jokingly stating he wanted to be a train driver. He still does not express any interest in following in his father’s and uncle’s footsteps in becoming a full-time MI6 agent. ALEX RIDER SERIES SKELETON KEY sudden stillness. Photographers hung, vulture-like, over huge telephoto lenses while beneath them, in green-covered bunkers, television cameras swung round to take in the first serve. The players faced each other: two men whose whole lives had led up to this moment and whose future in the game would be decided in the next few minutes. It was all so very English—the grass, the strawberries, the straw hats. And yet it was still bloody, a gladiatorial contest like no other. “Quiet please, ladies and gentlemen…” The umpire‟s voice rang out through the various speakers and then the first player served. Jacques Lefevre was French, twenty-two years old and new to the tournament. Nobody had expected him to get this far. He was playing a German, Jamie Blitz, one of the favourites in this year‟s competition. But it was Blitz who was losing—two sets down, five games to two. Alex watched him as he waited, balancing on the balls of his feet. Lefevre served. The ball thundered close to the centre line. An ace. “Fifteen love.” Alex was close enough to see defeat in the German‟s eyes. This was the cruelty of the game; the psychology of it. Lose your mental edge and you could lose everything. That was what had happened to Blitz now. Alex could almost smell it in his sweat. As he walked to the other side of the court to face the next serve, his whole body looked heavy, as if it was taking all his strength just to keep himself there. He lost the next point and the one after. Alex sprinted across the court, snatched up a ball and just had time to roll it up to the ballboy at left base one. Not that it would be needed. It looked as if there would be only one more serve in the game. The Gentleman is one of the two antagonists that have not heard of or met Alex Rider, the other being Ravi Chandra of Crocodile Tears.
