This, like the original opium, doesn’t last long at all {not that I actually mind because I can’t stand these perfumes anymore} but for what you pay, it’s disappointing, cloying and I’m over Opium and anything they bring out anymore. YSL Black Opium Neon EDP is a intensely fruity, full and voluminous Oriental fragrance with a unique key note of Dragon Fruit added to that signature Black Opium coffee accord. Don't get me wrong, I love Black Opium in general, and this one is close enough to the original to smell pleasant, but it's a little bland. The orange blossom dominates this fragrance on my body chemistry then the faint coffee / vanilla note.I can smell the fruity, dragonfruit when I sniff the bottle or smell it on a paper tester, but it doesn't translate onto my skin. Like in couture tailoring, the signature Black Opium bottle is re-visited and given a new silhouette with the contemporary woman in mind. This could be smelled across the room for several hours, then when standing close for quite a while after. I’ve reapplied many times while tearing it today, although admittedly a few times just because I wanted to smell the opening again and wanted another dose of that pretty orange blossom.

On my skin it can start to lean towards an almost anise like scent, which usually would put me off but I don't seem to mind it as much here in combination with the other notes as it works quite well all together. I liked the now discontinued Black Opium flankers Floral Shock and Nuit Blanche much better than this.

The Eau de Parfum Neon adds a neon-like radiance to the Black Opium dark coffee accord emboldened with luscious dragon fruit. But It’s absolutely perfect for special events and parties, and I have gotten so many compliments on it. It's a black opium with higher highs and lower deep notes - and all that without ever feeling synthetic. Well, it lasted 15 minutes longer than the other other Black Opiums in projection, but had a quick drop off after 30 minutes. The whole ensemble would benefit according to my tastes, I love strong coffee, but this was certainly not the intent to make it perceived as a primary note.

I get sort of a artificial gummy candy scent in the beginning, like peach rings or the mystery flavor of Airheads.I think after purchasing the Neon and Intense versions of Black Opium, I am officially done with Black Opium in 2021.
