Now onto the disc itself, the main problem I noticed was how badly the surrond mix seems to have been put together.

Looking at how "Steinman's old-fashioned teen-dream rock 'n' roll fantasies" fits in with the music culture of 1993, Kerrang! For Crying Out Loud is the perfect bookend to an incredible album, for this sweeping power ballad encapsulates the grandeur that only Meat Loaf was capable of delivering. Steinman rejoined Meat Loaf and the band for a live performance in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1978 with the intention of going through the songs for Bat II after the show. Guitars still are a little too beafy, but they are less noisy as their distorsion is much more limpid now. The album, Original Sin, was a commercial flop, but featured two songs which would also appear on Bat II. However, according to Meat Loaf, one of them was written for him, saying that "Jim put 'It Just Won't Quit' on Original Sin without telling me.

Alongside the original version a two disc special edition was released, containing a foldout poster and a bonus disc containing three live tracks, which can also be found as B-sides to the "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)" singles.

it doesn't really offer any revelations, curiosities, or an interesting listen for anybody else (and it may not be that interesting to those collectors, either). According to Meat Loaf, Rundgren put all the arrangements together because although "Jim could hear all the instruments" in his head, Steinman hummed rather than orchestrating. As of June 2019, it has spent 522 weeks in the UK Albums Chart, the second longest chart run by a studio album. Unfortunately, despite trying various editions, I’ve yet to find a vinyl copy that is mastered exceedingly well. Steve Popovich, the head of Cleveland International Records, was relentless in his efforts to get Epic and all of CBS Records and radio on board.

The team had done the effort of remixing the album from some safety copy multitrack tapes (the real original multitracks are said to have been destroyed in a fire) to separate sounds and distribute them in different speakers, so the sound would appear to be [much] clearer. It was number one for one week in the US on the Billboard 200, [35] the UK Albums Chart for eleven non-consecutive weeks, number one in Australia for four weeks, and eight weeks at number one in Canada. However, Meat Loaf asserts that Rizzuto claimed ignorance only to stifle criticism and was fully aware of the context of what he was recording.

In November 2007, Meat Loaf was awarded the Classic Album award in Classic Rock's Classic Rock Roll Of Honour. You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night) has the classic Steinman spoken intro that works well with the song, but I find the musicality of this track to be a little campy and rather dated. It is also the best-selling album in Australia, having been certified 26× Platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA). This disc does have a multi-channel layer, but I don't know if there's any information about whether the original recording was actually multi-channel?

Below we have listed all the most popular versions so you can easily browse through to find the Bat Out Of Hell CD (or vinyl, if available) you're looking for. The first disc contains the remastered original album, while the second contains several radio edits and remixes. Released in 1977, Bat Out Of Hell, produced by Todd Rundgren and penned by Jim Steinman, has left an indelible mark on music history with its bombastic melodies, theatrical storytelling, and Meat Loaf's unmatched powerhouse vocals. This is a great album (particularly if you were an adolescent in the 70's) If only the sound quality was similar to the Elton John SACD's. The low end of the audio spectrum is still lacking on the Apple Music stream, unfortunately, but if we consider that to be part of the album’s style, I can live with that. However, having owned and listened to both the stereo-only version and the multi-channel version, in my opinion the multi-channel is hands down the version to own. After listening to the spoken word intro to " You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night)", founder Steve Popovich accepted the album for Cleveland. Roy Bittan and Max Weinberg, the pianist and drummer from Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band played on the album, in addition to members of Rundgren's group Utopia: Kasim Sulton, Roger Powell and Willie Wilcox.
