I loved the first chapter but after that, it was endless, lengthy soliloquies of Will's overwhelming love and raging desire over Lake (though I guess this is keeping up with his character, since he is a poet). I mean, I like reading about perfect characters but sometimes authors don’t keep them real and that’s what I felt while reading this.

This is probably the most un-Colleen Hoover book I've read (and I've read a few that try to emulate her) and save for the first chapter and the last 25%, Will just alienated me so much. What we didn’t realise until reading This Girl was how much we genuinely missed all these characters.Pronounced emotional and often romantic desire towards developing significant relationships with particular inanimate objects. There were secrets revealed, and many feelings divulged that shed new light on their relationship and their love for each other. I’ve loved you since the second I laid eyes on you and I haven’t stopped loving you for a second since. I loved getting the flashback glimpses from Slammed, but in a whole new light from Will's perspective. Four of her books are on my favorites shelf and I've never rated a book of hers below 4 stars before I read Point of Retreat in December 2016.

I normally hate the same book/different point of view thing this genre tends to put out, but CoHo mixed it up and included a bunch of new in with the old. They were both left to take care of younger siblings, and become parents themselves long before they should have. This Girl reminded me of watching bonus materials on DVD of my favourite movie - you know what is about to happen, you know how it is going to end but you just cannot get enough and you want more, you want deeper insight into the story and characters. Atria Books published This Girl, the third and final installment in the Slammed series, on April 30, 2013.Their future rests on how well they deal with the past in this final instalment of the beloved Slammed series. After all, we know the story of Slammed already and we had previously heard Will’s voice in Point of Retreat so we knew what to expect from him. What I took away from this book is that Slammed isn't Will and Lake and the reasons that I fell head over heels about the book wasn't solely because of them.

Layken is left second-guessing the relationship whilst Will is jumping over hurdles to prove his love for her. The addition of the scenes with Taylor was interesting at first because it led to that great scene at the hotel where Lake was baring her insecurities to him. Will is the ultimate swoon-worthy boyfriend, and Layken isn’t the idiot girlfriend that are in most books these days! The perfect pan of basagna, the perfect glass of chocolate milk on the rocks - the perfect send off for my favorite book couple of all time.
