Description

Zuiko Digital ED 12-100mm f/4 IS PRO Lens from Olympus is a 24-200mm equivalent zoom designed for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras. Both a ZERO Coating and a Z Coating Nano are applied to individual lens elements to noticeable reduce surface reflections and prevent lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color neutrality in strong lighting conditions. With the sample I still have I tried to insert a small piece of baking paper under the lens mount on the lens. Lenstip had to take extra steps that no one would normally take to show the distortion on the Olympus. We're as guilty as anyone of getting excited about shiny new gear and features, but let's not lose sight of the gear we already have by our side.

Constant f/4 maximum aperture provides consistent illumination throughout the zoom range to benefit both stills and video applications. They are significantly worse than what I used to get from the original FourThirds PanaLeica 14-150/3.And of course there are smaller lenses for larger formats – but definitely not if compared to models with similar angles of view, zoom range and speeds. The f4 lens on the mft gives me less noisy image because the iso is appreciably higher than other images. Sony in 2012 had the PDAF Nex 6 for APSC until 2014 with the introduction of the then-revolutionary PDAF of the A6000. You discuss the advantages/disadvantages with respect to the 12-40 Pro, but I am wondering what your impressions are with respect to the 40-150 Pro. A number of my photographs were awarded at local and overseas competitions such as the Czech Press Photo, Nature's Best Photography, Bird Photographer of the Year, Sony World Photography Awards, Big Picture Awards, Nactus Awards or the most acclaimed one - the Wildlife Photographer of the Year.

And since the 12-100mm f/4 IS PRO combined with my OMD E-M1 Mark II are both weather sealed I NEVER had to worry about my gear in those situations. The lens maintains a great level of sharpness throughout the zoom range, and it doesn't get hazy or fall apart if you're close to your subjects. So while there were times on this trip where I stopped the lens down, it was usually to get more depth of field, not to increase sharpness. Ratings are personal with each reviewer, however I respectfully think this lens should be rated a gold award, simply for the combination of features packed into an unusually sharp superzoom.

A: When I’m choosing a lens I don’t care that much if it fits exactly between the one before and after. It’s also nice to be able to use an ND filter handheld thanks to the incredible image stabilisation – images of busy places where the crowds could distract from the subject can be taken so the crowds and blurred – they are still there but it puts the focus back on the main subject. g., in a Gothic cathedral or something like that), do you think the stabilization good enough to shoot at base ISO?
