Description

Starting with the basic OD-9 circuit, Maxon improved the dynamic range of the OD-9 Pro+ by replacing the output stage transistor with a low-noise NEC uPC4570 OP-Amp. This substitution allows for less compression than the OD-9, providing a more balanced response from low to high ranges without emphasizing the mids like the OD-9 does. Output level is also +6dB higher than the OD9, so that the Pro+ effectively sounds twice as loud to your ears. In addition, this component change also offers a true undistorted signal when the Drive control is set at zero, allowing the Pro+ to be used as a clean booster as well as an overdrive. For over 50 years, Maxon has been renowned for its effect pedals ever since Maxon’s parent company Nisshin Onpa started designing them in 1969. However, their products were not marketed under their own brand originally outside of Japan and were sold worldwide under other well-known brand names (OEM), such as Ibanez™. The TOD takes the classic OD-9 overdrive circuit and adds a mil-spec 5703WB JAN Raytheon sub-miniature vacuum tube positioned at the front of the audio path, driving the OD-9 circuit. I've also tested this in comparision to Ibanez's tubescreamer (the more recent one, not the original with the Maxon chip) and I think the Maxon chip sounds much better. The TOD-9 features internal voltage doublers that bump the incoming 9 VDC up to 30 VDC for stable tone with low distortion and increased headroom.

Damages caused by accident, abuse, alteration, or misuse are not covered by this warranty. Product appearance and normal "wear and tear" (worn paint, scratches, etc.) are not covered by this warranty. To stop blablatages the OD9 Maxon is a replica of the same original TS9 Ibanez, simply because it was manufactured by Maxon. The Ibanez TS9 today have nothing to do, so they are the pale copies. The NJM is smoother sounding and less compressed than other Op Amps, offering superior sound quality with low noise.Big interest of the pedal adds a lot of grain to your sound. Your sound is bland? Add this little wonder to color this! I would do if this choice? Ben must follow the guys, that was my Christmas! Will have to wait a year now for the next! Anyway, again thank you baby Jesus, and happy birthday for the 25!

Bear in mind that an OverDrive pedal is not a distortion pedal! I would never use this alone to get a good distortion - if you're searching for that, go to a diferent pedal all together. Distortion that comes from the amp is the best one you should always rely on. The OD-9 Pro Plus's new circuit uses different output resistors than its predecessor. After the unit's initial release it was discovered to have a high susceptibility to noise due to static electricity buildup. To improve performance, the values of the output resistors on the OD-9 were increased, but their positions kept the same as the original. This circuit change has no audible affect on the sound of the unit, save for reducing unwanted noise levels. In addition, the OD-9 features True Bypass Switching for natural, uncompromised tone in bypass. Its relatively expensive compared to most non-boutique pedals but worth every cent...buy this and you won't need another tubescreamer type though you might still use a Boss SD ...Build quality is the best I've come across,Maxon were the original manufacturer of the Ibanez 9 range and these are better built than current Ibanez ..... Can be used on a clean channel as a channel saturated or even ahead of another distortion pedal to give you a potato with the fire of God! While the Maxon OD-9 is true bypass, the input and output buffers are retained. So it has a vintage-correct circuit, but the buffers are only in the signal path when the pedal is switched on. What about the sound? Everyone knows, that's great on any amp, all on a fabulous lamp. Compared to my 808, the OD9 seems to have a bit more gain and be slightly more transparent boost. But does not play big thing. I use a Start Plus, an LP, a Lag Roxanne, on a Variax Koch amps lamps and Garen. The OD808 has the traditional buffers, however Maxon has deviated from the 808 formula by changing the two output resistors to reduce noise levels. The result is that the new values make the OD808 electronically identical to an original TS9, rather than a TS808.
