Dorian realizes that the witch mirror is a memory mirror and that Manon and Aelin must go together to use it. Once inside the witch mirror, Manon and Aelin discover that it holds memories. They learn the truth about what happened last time Erawan came to power and that Aelin will have to sacrifice herself to stop him. Manon offers comfort the only way she knows how by moving close to her in a show of solidarity. In an interview with Sarah J. Maas, Maas stated that in the present time, Aelin would be a fan of the Outlander Series. Not the queen’s hunter, who could draw out pain like a musician coaxing a melody from an instrument. But the massive white wolf, chained by invisible bonds. Forced to witness this. Portal Generation - When Nehemia passed away, Aelin strived to see her friend again, and so she created a portal via a dome of wyrdmarks from her blood, near Elena's Tomb. When Aelin passes through worlds, she sees two Fae—a winged male and a very pregnant female. The male lifts his hand and sends a gust of magic to slow her down. This is Rhysand and Feyre from A Court of Thorns and Roses. In the same scene, she passes a world with a city built along the curve of a river with incredibly tall buildings. This is Lunathion, also known as Crescent City, from the series by the same name.

It’s Dorian I want to follow now that this story is done—Dorian and Manon, who both have kingdoms to rebuild. But more on that later. O Witch Queen, My Witch QueenShe proceeded to convert all of Aelin's Fire Magic to Moon-Fire. The Goddess's Moon-Fire was described as being the cold white light of the stars, light that was stolen from them, which would be so cold that it would burn. Aedion and his armies travel to Perranth. Morath's soldiers finally reach them. Aedion's army is losing; in an attempt to inspire the troops Lysandra shifts into Aelin and enters the battlefield. She is injured by an ilken and the army is forced to retreat after Ironteeth witches arrive with witch towers and destroy 4,000 of Aedion's soldiers.

Ironteeth Physiology: As an Ironteeth witch Manon possesses sharp, retractable iron teeth and claws. Years in the making, Sarah J. Maas's #1 New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series draws to an epic, unforgettable conclusion. Aelin Galathynius's journey from slave to king's assassin to the queen of a once-great kingdom reaches its heart-rending finale as war erupts across her world. . . She claimed to hate the smell and taste of fish, but Rowan proved her wrong in Queen of Shadows by convincing her to try pan-fried trout, which she greatly enjoyed. She was able to manifest flame at an early age, although she had little to no control over it - as shown when she accidentally burnt a part of Orynth's Grand Library.Manon talks to Ghislaine about the Valg. Ghislaine explains how evil the Valg are and issues a warning about trying to ally with them. At breakfast the day after Manon talks to Ghislaine about the Valg, a coven of Yellowlegs under a witch named Ninya volunteer for implantation. Alone in the room with Sam, Aelin turns on him, believing that he had prior knowledge of the letter's contents, but he denies her accusations. Aelin rants, baffled as to why Arobynn would deceive them and dispatch them to reprove Rolfe for a crime he was not involved in. Sam says that Arobynn has his reasons, but Aelin presses on, expressing disgust at the idea of trading slaves. She asserts that the guild does not need the money, but she wonders if Arobynn is not as wealthy as she believes and has been spending money that he does not have, or if he simply wishes to become more affluent. Sam asks if she is going to bathe or if he can go first, and Aelin storms off to take a bath. Chaol has less time in this book, but it’s good time. It’s important time; it’s him facing his father with his new wife at his side, and finding that he can stand up to the old crotchety lord. So much of Chaol’s strife, in the earlier books, comes from him expecting people to be a certain way, and that includes himself. That’s part of his struggle in Tower of Dawn: accepting that you can’t always be the person you thought or wanted yourself to be. He’s had to adjust his expectations, again and again; he’s had to grow more flexible, and more accepting. He’s going to be such a good advisor for Dorian. I would highly recommend the tandem read of Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn when you get to that point. While there is very little overlap in the two stories, some readers mentioned that one part of Tower of Dawn can be considered spoilery for Empire of Storms. I’m glad she didn’t marry Dorian. I don’t think either of them are done baking yet, to mix in a Buffy metaphor. As allies, and, yes, lovers, they’re going to grow to be incredible. But they don’t need to get married.) Unimportant Mysteries

Some unknown amount of time later, Manon wakes up chained to a bed in a ship cabin. She sees Aelin who tells her that Abraxos had taken her here. Aelin and Rowan have healed her wounds and removed shards of iron from them. As she’s healing, Dorian enters her cabin and Manon asks about Elide and the Thirteen, but Dorian knows nothing. Manon continues to recover but struggles with feelings of depression at the loss of her Thirteen and with her exile from the Ironteeth. In an effort to try and pull her from the depression, Dorian flirts with her and tempts her, and then leaves, enraging her. The main problem there, though, is that there is a MAJOR cliffhanger at the end of Empire of Storms and a lot of people want to skip Tower of Dawn entirely because of it. So that’s why I recommend reading Tower of Dawn first. But you can decide what’s best for you.Aelin is crowned queen, and offers the blood oath to Aedion in front of everyone. There’s a party, and everyone goes home. A witch brings Manon proof that she’s broken the curse: a flower bloomed in the Wastes. And in the end, on a sunny morning, the kingsflame blooms across Terrasen. You’ve Come a Long Way, Babies Aelin, Dorian, and Chaol are the only three characters to get a point of view in the first book and a main point of view in six books, while other characters' points of view were all added in the following books. She was able to set Doranelle's rivers steaming, and turn a massive wave of deadly glass shards into an extensive glass wall - to save the citizens of Rifthold. He barely remembered his own name. And only recalled it because his three companions spoke it while they searched for her across violent and dark seas, through ancient and slumbering forests, over storm-swept mountains already buried in snow.

It’s Dorian I found the most fascinating as this series went on. He’s taken the longest to figure himself out, which makes sense—he was a prince, an heir, his life set out for him; then he was slave to one of those nasty Wyrdstone collars. There are things he’s always known about himself—his loyalty, the way he values friendships—but there’s so much else he has had to reconsider as his story shifted and changed. He’s struggling with PTSD almost as much as Aelin is, and he’s had to come to terms with the raw magic he never expected to have. One night, the King of Adarlan decided to overthrow one of his major political opponents, the royal family of Terrasen, and to conquer their country for his own. Aelin discovered the deaths of her parents when she climbed into their bed thinking the wetness on the bed was due to rain coming in from the open window in their chamber and woke to a maid's screams to discover the bed was soaked with their blood. Her mother's dearest friend, Lady Marion Lochan, sacrificed herself to allow Aelin to escape and survive the massacre of her family. She fell into a river, and only Elena sacrificing herself to save her kept her alive. The King cemented his rule over Erilea by promoting across the country the deaths of the Terrasen nobility, all the while unaware of the survival of Aelin. After the deaths of her parents and Orlon, her uncle and King of Terrasen, she became the sole survivor of Terrasen's royal family. Aelin trained at the Assassins' Keep in Rifthold, and it was there that she spent the majority of her life following the deaths of her parents. However, she was captured after attempting to exact revenge on Ioan Jayne and Rourke Farran for murdering her lover Sam Cortland. As a result, she was sent to the Salt Mines of Endovier—a labor camp—and sentenced as a slave to reside there for the remainder of her life. Sea-dragon Lysandra covertly saving good witches while sending the rest to the bottom of the river. Chaol yields a portion of his lands to the Wild Men in the mountains of Anielle to get their help in guiding the armies. In some ways, the end of the series reflects the end of Empire of Storms: As ever, Aelin has plans she doesn’t tell anyone, from not explaining (even to Rowan!) why she doesn’t use her power until that desperate moment in Anielle, to not telling everyone that she’s asked the Fae and Wolf Tribe in the north to come to Terrasen’s aid. The latter, I understand; she never wants to give anyone hope that may be unfounded, because she knows what it’s like to lose hope. The former was endlessly frustrating, because while Aelin didn’t use her fire, people died. Nameless people, nameless soldiers, all falling to Morath’s hosts.
