About this deal

The Neophytes aren’t as variable as it’s just two sprues mirrored. However, you can give them different guns and heads. The Tomb Kings, held together by the sorcerous will of their Lich Priest head coach, might leave much to be desired in the technical department, but they more than make up for it with plenty of raw undead strength. Like the Beast Snagga Orks and Sisters of Battle army sets before it, it’s a limited edition ‘core’ set to herald the arrival of a completely new(or, as in this case, completely redesigned) Warhammer 40k army, seemingly squarely aimed at long-time enthusiasts who’ve been sitting on unloved old collections for years, waiting on a refresh. People, in short, just like me. As you can see a very cool-looking new Marshal model is coming that is very similar to the limited-edition one that came in the 3rd Edition army box over 20 years ago! As for the right half, we get a lot more heads, shoulders, and some auxiliary bits. But the notable things here are those new ranged weapons, the Sword Brother’s sword, and the primaries neophytes as well. Primaris Emperor’s Champion

Auto-plasmas and auto-flamers, incidentally, are exactly what they sound like – combi-weapons that combine an auto bolt rifle with a plasma gun or flamer. These are just the regular kind, no fancy Primaris versions. Assorted decorations, including purity seals, honour scrolls, candles, martyrs’ bones, lanterns, icons, and what looks like a Holy Hand Grenade… Relic Bearers: The Templars points-based upgrade option is a massive winner, hitting the sweet spot of being interesting, broadly useful and powerful. Something to note here, the Beast Snagga box had new 26 models inside, while the BT box will come with 13 miniatures, 12 of which are new releases.

There’s been heated discussion among fans as to whether this brand new Castellan is, in fact, a Primaris Space Marine (wearing unorthodox power armour that closely resembles older patterns) or whether he is not Primaris at all, but rather GW’s first newly released Firstborn Space Marine inquite a while.

You can seek these out as rewards for various deeds in Crusade battles. We’d love to talk about these thematic rules right now, but a skull-faced Space Marine is giving us a very stern look which means we’ll have to wait until tomorrow.**

New Black Templar Army Box Sprues

Being able to creep onto an objective is also a great combo with one of the standout new stratagems, Strength of Conviction. For one CP, in your command phase, a CORE unit gains Objective Secured until the start of your next command phase. This is incredible– handing out ObSec is always good, and the timing on this means that when you have to choose to activate it you’ll have perfect information as to whether it’s going to add to your scoring in the moment. Using it to mess with your opponent’s scoring takes a bit more planning, but if you’re about to send your Bladeguard or Vanguard Veterans off to mess with your opponent’s stuff it can be very worth pulling the trigger on this. Plus from the looks of this, there are two close combat weapon options, an ax, and sword, plus a combi-flamer option to go along with the plasma pistol.
