A stressful job turns into a nightmare when the whole family is murdered and she's blamed as the suspect. Author Luke Palmer introduces his new book, Play (Firefly Press) about four boys growing up together, the challenges, the friendships, and what hap. It is a sharp observation of the dangers of social media and true crime sleuths and the deceit of trial by media in general. As Rachel is walking her dog in the English woodlands, she comes across a body but runs away, failing to report it to police or even check for life signs. Well, while they were shocking, I don’t know it also missed something as we are never near when they happen.

Here is a quick description and cover image of book I Know You Did It written by Sue Wallman which was published in May 6, 2021. It's two years after the events of Girl, Missing and life is not getting any easier for sixteen-year-old Lauren, as exam pressure and a recent family tragedy take their toll. I thought I was so clever and had figured it out but I was wrong; the ending was both surprising and satisfying. The story had a strong beginning, but unfortunately it started losing some of its gripping factor the more I got into the book. The alternating characters were spot on, just when you’d thought you had Rachel figured out, Casey popped up. Rachel thinks her life has started to come together, she lives in the countryside and has a boyfriend she loves albeit he is separated from his wife and has a small child.

As the writing matches that of the note she received, Julie realizes it was not a suicide note, but a death threat. At times it just seems too much in my eyes, and throughout the book I kept also waiting for that twist, because given how people reacted each time it just felt like there was more to the story than that Ruby told us. Flipping between the murder now and the murders in the past, we follow Rachel/Casey as she tries to detangle herself from both murders. A dostałam jakiś fatalny okropnie napisany styl życia głównej bohaterki - która swoją droga była wybitnie irytująca.

The scene in which the four friends are seated around a campfire on the beach next to a wrecked boat was inspired by a painting Gillespie had seen in a reference book; to achieve the image, the art department purchased an old boat in Bodega Bay, cut it in half and placed it at the beach location. During the second half of the novel there were several unexpected plot points thrown in [they were small plot points but added flair to the story], especially in the last couple chapters. Back in America she was charged with murdering the entire Safran family, (except for one) went to prison and narrowly escaped the death penalty and won her appeal, and off she went back to the UK as Rachel.

Before that we lived in various places, including a hospital in York where my dad was a psychiatrist.

This isn't your usual mystery read, as you will know quiet early on who did what, but it is all about characters and their motives. After five years in prison, she was exonerated and 20 years later, is living under a new name with a new life in a small town in the UK.
