Scorpion Chainsword - First amongst the ritual weapons used by the Striking Scorpions Aspect, these distinctive Chainswords bolster the strength of their users considerably.

Even without a codex of their own, Craftworlds Eldar have undergone some rapid developments following Games Workshop’s drive to encourage armies to play to their strengths. The ritual masks and armour that Aspect Warriors wear set them apart as the elite soldiers of their race. Although they are rarely encountered beyond their Craftworld, the Dire Avengers are nonetheless the most commonly encountered Aeldari Aspect Warriors, for they are skilled and adaptable troops deployed to deal with any external threats. Building your own Craftworlds Eldar army, regardless of how you play them on the battlefield, is a pure joy. Eldar models are delicate, beautifully balanced, and can veer into the territory of artwork when painted right. Any Eldar army you build will bring you deep pleasure to simply look at, and that’s something that can’t be understated when approaching an army. Finally, you’ll want your units to stay alive. We’d recommend a Wave Serpent for this. A dedicated transport ship that’s equipped with a shield, its durability will keep all cargo in its levitating troop belly happy. Baharroth is believed to have been the finest pupil of Asurmen, the first Asuryani Exarch. He is the Winged Phoenix, the oldest of the Swooping Hawks and the first of the winged Exarchs. He was the most vibrant and youthful of the Phoenix Lords, revelling in the sensation of the sun on his wings.

Craftworlds Eldar Lore

With a piercing cry, Baharroth and his Tempest leap into the sky, streaking towards the Phoenix Lord's chosen prey. The Swooping Hawk's Haywire Grenades are specially fitted with gravitic motors, effectively turning them into highly-effective short-ranged aerial mines intended to short-circuit enemy aircraft. The title might just be a clue as to the tone of this story; the plot sees some of Ulthwé’s brightest on a mission of hope…but we know what’s in the future for the eldar race, and it’s not exactly bright. The concept of the ‘path’ is hugely important for the eldar, and this looks at how the sacrifice of the few can be for the benefit of the many; like an Exarch dedicating himself to Khaine so that he can pass on his skills, or a farseer sacrificing much for the future of a craftworld. Along the way there’s fighting aplenty, but the main draw here is the narrative and not the action – it progresses at a measured pace, as opposed to jumping straight into the midst of battle.

Speaking of jump generators – Warp Spiders may still be missing a Phoenix Lord, but these sneaky Aspect Warriors haven’t been idle. Their death spinners are now a terrifying threat to even the largest units, as the Blast ability allows them to reduce a whole squad of light infantry to finely-diced chunks with nets of razor-sharp wire. Every Aspect Warriors will see their training pay off when Codex: Aeldari hits the streets. You might be wondering about Howling Banshees – suffice to say they’re so much better now that they’ll be getting an article all to themselves tomorrow. Sign up to our newsletter if you don’t want to miss it.With safety and the vast resources of the Eldar Empire, the Aeldari became insular. They ceased looking outwards for new inspiration, preferring to explore their desires and hedonistic impulses. The Eldar Empire became darker; twisted needs and terrible acts becoming commonplace as they slaked their lusts on each other and the many lesser races that populated the galaxy. In 2014 I formally pitched the story which was to become Asurmen: Hand of Asuryan. The original idea was for a collaborative series with other authors, looking at each of the Phoenix Lords in turn, although I’m not sure if the rest of the series is still planned – I hope so, as I’d still love to write more about Karandras. Jain Zar is the most active of all the Phoenix Lords in the war against the forces of Chaos. She has led hundreds of Howling Banshees to war on countless occasions, even mustering them from multiple Craftworlds at once. [1] Wargear Jainas Mor Baharroth and Maugan Ra are brothers as the sun is to the moon, and many of the Aeldari's deadliest foes have met their doom on the edge of their blades. He learned the arts of war under Asurmen himself, at the first and greatest Shrine of Asur, when the Fall was still a living memory in the minds of his people.

These new rules really let you build an army around a particular Phoenix Lord leading your favourite Aspect Warriors into glorious battle. A legendary hero commanding a team of intense combat specialists – isn’t that what Warhammer 40,000 is all about?Jain Zar next appeared fighting to save Biel-Tan from Daemonic invasion and has since joined the Ynnari, taking Ynnead into herself and becoming reborn [10]. Since then no other Phoenix Lord has championed the cause of the newly risen Ynnari as has Jain Zar. She has spoken passionately about the hope fostered by Ynnead, and come to the aid of Yvraine and her followers on multiple occasions [11]. However, she went missing in the Webway during their battle against the Thousand Sons. [10] She reappeared during the Psychic Awakening to protect Yvraine, first from Drazhar on during the Raid on Saim-Hann then later on Iathglas from Shalaxi Helbane. [13]
