I do so love it when the author heaps the misery on the characters and, of course, us the readers. It makes the happy so much more enjoyable when it finally comes along. I am probably never happier than when my book characters are suffering and there seems to be no light at the end of tunnel. Call me an evil sadist if you will but I really love to ride all that angst with them and feel their pain – it makes the beautiful happy ending all the more sweet when it finally comes around.

If he needs an emotional punching bag, I'll be the best goddamned punching bag on the planet! It's going to hurt like hell to keep feeling rejected when I want him to love me like he used to, but not having him hurts a whole lot worse. The way in which Camden Walker views the world is unusual and fascinating. His energy and spirit are intense. The way he see the world as a work of art in progress is eye opening. The way in which he transcends his traumatic childhood is incredibly inspiring. His determination to turn negative situations in to positives is astounding. I loved watching Wade give in. I love it when they accept what they don’t understand and just go all in which is exactly what he does. No hesitations. He’s in love with a man. Also, this isn’t your normal MC Club. They have morals. They treat each other with respect. And I can’t go without mentioning Lucas and Zion’s own parents. They are hilarious and so adorable. What more can I say except that this book must be on your to read list and yes you will suffer a book hangover. This story is so beautiful and insightful and it will teach you many truths that may make you look at people differently and with more compassion. Well, I was one of probably 10 people who didn't really like the first book in the series, so take all of this with a grain of salt. Although we did find the end moved a little on the slow side, there was no doubting this was a moving, honest and extremely beautiful story of a man’s struggle to love and a woman who never gave up on him.

This book mainly centres around Damon’s recovery and their rebuilding of their relationship, but there are a lot of plot twists and turns thrown in. These twists are not really answered during the book but give an insight into what is to come in book 3…I cannot wait!! You’re all that matters to me, Isla. I’m already falling, so if you fall too, I’ll catch you. No matter what." When you were mine, you made everything better. You made my life better. You made me better. You have been my medicine. You made the hurt disappear.Aidan Reynolds is focused on his job and his family, doing what is right and not letting anyone in. He believes love happens to others, and it's better not to get burn and hurt. Megan Gentry is passing through Madison Ridge as she leaves behind her ex and her old life in Nashville. She needs to find herself and her worth without being attached to a man. But an accident will force her to stay in the charming small town while her classic car gets repaired. Except its high tourist season and there is no place to stay so Aidan, against his better judgment, offers her a room in his cabin. After all, he is just doing his job as a public servant. The attraction is instant and, as much as both fight it, it can't be denied. He’s just doing his job making sure her car gets towed. It’s the right thing to do, escorting an injured woman to the town doc. Both Caleb and Isla come from different walks of life, but they connected almost immediately. They kind of seemed like they'd been together for a while, but at the same time were still figuring each other and what they were to each other out. Olivia grew to know him through his art. She saw his soul and fell in love. When Camden founs himself living in a new place. Olivia made sure he had a friend he could count on. Their unlikely bond created a relationship that is magnificent and perfect.

How could something horrific produce something so beautiful? And how can you hate that thing with every fibre of your being and be grateful for it at the same time?’ A moan flies out of my mouth before I can stop it. It shows just how desperate I am for him. I’m desperate and needy for his touch; for his lips on my skin; for my Damon. It is really hard to put into words the feelings and emotions that arose in me while reading this incredible story. Only 35% into it and I was absolutely gutted, heartbroken and unable to stop the tears falling. In the beginning of the book, you absolutely feel like the worst has happened, just don’t give up hope on Damon and Jo. They are stronger than you believe. :0) You spend a lot of time with Gram, and Gram does it again. She makes you laugh, she makes you cry, and I even felt a little bit grumpy towards Gram at one point. You meet the repair man who sounds absolutely wonderful with his hot steamy sexy body. Oh man does he sound wonderful. By the end of the book, I’m not sure I like him anymore though.Josephine Geroux, Jo went through so much in this story. Seven words to describe Jo: Independent, lonely, strong, broken, determined, frank and endearing.

The heat and connection between Isla and Caleb was so powerful and intense, absolutely combustible and all-consuming. I loved Isla's fierce independent spirit as she tried to defy expectations. And my heart truly broke for Caleb. Could he rise above his circumstances or would he be caught in the destructive cycle of the Hart men? I loved how Caleb protected Isla and empowered her independence and how they found comfort and calmness in each other's arms. Yes, there were plenty of deliciously steamy sex scenes but the emotions behind everything went so much deeper than that. Megan was just passing through Madison Ridge on the way to her brother’s house in Florida. She had just gone through a nasty divorce and needed to start her life over. Aiden was the interim sheriff in the small town of Madison Ridge. He didn’t want to babysit anyone especially the woman that seemed to bring out feelings he did not want to feel. He had a rule of not allowing anyone other than his family close after experiencing so much pain after the death of his parents. Will he break his rule for a future with the charming Megan? Caleb Hart, a college student wannabe forensic analyst who can’t quite catch a break in life. Broken home, broken car, broken life. When will anything work out for him? Until he saw her. She became the light that pulled him out of the darkness. His “starlight”. And maybe it takes the only person who’s ever understood the wounded artist to show him he’s as radiant as his art. Because maybe it takes the one not wired for this world to appreciate the one who’s been ignored by it.

Being with her was like playing with fire. But I was a pyro, so fully addicted to this woman I'd play with fire until the world burned down around me. Hell, I'd burn it down for her." First things first. Shame on you J.L. Mac. That was not very nice. I felt like the floor fell out from underneath me all over again. I thought, could she? would she? Surely she can't do that to us...I mean who does that? This book is very short and I was slightly disappointed by that. Along the road to Damon and Jo's HEA, there are some dark forces working against them, namely Damon's father. There is also the fact that Jo wants to find Damon's mother who abandon him as child. A stranger comes into the picture as well and you can just see the handwriting on the wall. All these forces come together at the end. The story is not over but at least there is not a huge cliffy as before. More of a- to be continued. Gram is still a big presence in the book and her feistiness is ever present. I am hopeful that the final book will give Damon and Jo their HEA. They have endured so much and I am sure there is still much to endure but hopefully at the end of the day, these two will as one. Watching them connect on a different level right away had me so excited! I love those kind of relationships, the ones where you picture everything with a stranger - because I do believe in love at first sight.
