A ballgown is your dream, and it must make you a dream… wearing a beautiful ballgown you become a real woman; all femininity, daintiness and sweetness.” Just like the other colors, there is a shade of yellow for everyone--but you have to take the trouble to find it. Of course, it would take volumes to cover the entire field of Fashion, but I have compiled a book which I think is neither too long, so that it becomes tedious, nor too short so that it seems insufficient, and I have called it my ‘Little Dictionary of Fashion’.You literally learn how to dress well for ANYTHING and how to use your money more wisely when purchasing clothes. The man is a god, seriously. And he talks to all social classes, not just to women who can afford a Dior piece, haha! As a bonus, the reader also can enter Dior’s mind and have a glimpse of what was like to live and get dressed in the 1960’s. Spoiler alert: thank God for Macy’s, hahaha! That said, it was a bit of an interesting time capsule, to read Dior’s thoughts on different aspects of fashion. Unfortunately, many of the definitions are less, well, definitions, and more paragraphs about how said item fits into Dior’s view of fashion. Which is fine, but it’s hard for me to assess Dior’s thoughts on pique when I’m still not entirely sure what that is. Additionally, many sections (such as hemlines) would have benefited from drawings showing the various types and their names. Elegance] must be the right combination of distinction, naturalness, care and simplicity, Outside this, believe me, there is no elegance. Only pretension. Christian Dior reveals the secrets of style in The Little Dictionary of Fashion , a charming, indispensable guide that covers everything from what to wear to a wedding and how to tie a scarf to how to walk with grace. These are timeless tips with something special for every woman. But it is possible for a woman to be elegant without spending very much money on her clothes, if she follows the basic rules of Fashion and is careful to choose the clothes that suit her personality. When I was young, women used much more perfume than they do now and I think that was wonderful and I regret now that more women don't use it lavishly now. After women, flowers are the most lovely thing God has given the world. But being so sweet and charming they must be used with care…” You can dress to suit yourself – and therefore your age – but this does not mean that you have to wear clothes that make you look old. There is a slight difference in a woman's way of dressing before and after marriage, too. I would not advise anyone to wear big jewels and expensive furs before marriage.

I also enjoyed learning new fashion terminology like Princess Line (I never knew that style was called that) and Persian Lamb (a fur I have never heard about). First you must study yourself. Learn to know what suits you and what does not. And study your own needs. Find the colours that flatter you and emphasise your looks. Avoid the colours that do nothing for you. When I was young, women used much more perfume than they do now and I thin that was wonderful and I regret now that more women don't use it lavishly now. And the most useful design is a dress with a décolleté – and a bolero or spencer. Any sort of material is good – from wool to lace. Any sort of bodice, and any kind of skirt – slim or full, it depends on your figure and the kind of life you lead. Age

It is a good idea to have one umbrella and many covers for it – then you can have a colour that goes with every outfit. Libri ka nje kopertine mbreselenese, me kapak te forte estetikisht te kenaqshem, I thjeshte ne ngjyra dhe stil por me nje lloj sharmi ne thjeshtesine e tij. Ky lloj stili kishte vazhdueshmeri edhe ne brendesi te librit ku lundrimi ishte mjaft I embel. I read it so that you don't have to. The book is pretty and has very little content - all platitudes, some of them mildly interesting. If you really want to learn about vintage fashion from a vintage book, choose A Guide to Elegance: For Every Woman Who Wants to Be Well and Properly Dressed on All Occasions or ABC of Men's Fashion.

Perfume is the indispensable complement to the personality of women, the finishing touch of a dress…” Originally published: London: Cassell, 1954. The Little Dictionary of Fashion: A Guide to Dress Sense for Every Woman by Christian Dior – eBook Details The accent must always have the touch of your personality … The place you put a clip … The way you tie a bow … How you fold your scarf … The colour you choose for your flower …

Pink is the sweetest of all colours. Every woman should have something pink in her wardrobe. It is the colour of happiness and of femininity…” There are also grandmothers – but it is only necessary to dress as a grandmother if you have a certain kind of figure and lead a certain kind of life.) For the last ten years, Kate has worn a smaller pair of sapphire and diamond earrings that were widely believed to have been fashioned using the very same pair that Kate wore for Queen Elizabeth’s birthday parade. — Janine Henni, Peoplemag, 15 Nov. 2023 Pull out the whole cloves and clementines to fashion some pomanders. — Southern Living Editors, Southern Living, 8 Nov. 2023 Studies in the past decade analyzing these features have confirmed that ancient Egyptians likely used this iron from the sky to fashion the Gerzeh beads, Tutankhamun’s dagger and other funerary items. — Smithsonian Magazine, 17 Oct. 2023 In March, to considerable fanfare, Beijing announced a peace deal between Saudi Arabia and Iran and proclaimed its desire to fashion a similar agreement between Israel and the Palestinians. — Michael Kimmage and Hanna Notte, Foreign Affairs, 12 Oct. 2023 Interest has been growing both for vintage jewelry and new pieces fashioned from repurposed stones. — Fiorella Valdesolo, WSJ, 3 Nov. 2023 One woman has fashioned a top out of a plastic grocery bag. — Lina Abascal, Los Angeles Times, 25 Oct. 2023 But the network is winding, uneven and in some parts fashioned in a zigzag pattern to evade Israeli detection. — Bryan Pietsch, Washington Post, 25 Oct. 2023 Miller began taking part in zombie walks in Phoenix and fashioned a homemade costume with a menacing mask and a fake Gatling gun, said Schwartzkopf. — Paul Larosa, CBS News, 21 Oct. 2023 See More I think my title for this review says it all: one can definitely tell it was written in the 1950s. Fur features prominently in here (fox, sable, mink - all are discussed, and the various virtues compared), the styles mentioned revolve heavily around skirts and skirt suits (I’m not sure trousers were mentioned at all), and every picture is of very tiny white woman. Additionally, Dior makes many mentions of what is appropriate for ‘plump’ women in terms of prints and color which, frankly, I have no interest in. Wear what you like! An accent is that little personal touch which makes a dress designed by a couturier your own dress. It is of great importance.
