In this article we review Huawei Mobile WiFi E5577 as a solution to providing and meeting your WiFi needs whilst touring in your motorhome. The E5577 is a mobile 3/4G MiFi (meaning ‘My WiFi’) device which connects to the cellular network and provides a WiFi connection inside your motorhome or indeed on the go if you carry it on your person for up to 10 devices to connect to. The router also offers secure wireless encryption protocols, such as WPA2-PSK, to protect users' personal information and keep their internet connection safe from unauthorized access. In terms of design, the Huawei E5577C has a sleek and minimalist appearance. It is constructed with durable materials, ensuring longevity and product reliability.

Additionally, the Huawei E5577Cs-321 supports the connection of multiple devices, allowing users to share their internet connection with family, friends, or colleagues. It is also compatible with a wide range of devices, including smartphones, tablets, and laptops. The Huawei E5577 looks smarter than its predecessors, perhaps because it becomes thinner. The body material is made of plastic but touch feel good. On the front, there is Huawei logo and power button which are located at the two sides of the 1.45 TFT LCD screen. On the top side, there is “Menu” button while the USB port and connectors for external antenna are on the bottom side. Huawei E5577C supports LTE by category 4 with up to 150 MBit/s in the downlink and 50 Mbit/s in the uplink. Actually, LTE Cat4 is not the latest new technology. Here now there is LTE Category 6 mobile hotspot Huawei E5786 available. But new technology means user need pay more money to enjoy it. For most users, the LTE Cat4 modem in E5577C will provide sufficient speeds and in testing, it can achieve top speeds of up to 140 Mbit/s. In the UMTS network the data accelerator DC-HSPA+ is of course supported, so here theoretically up to 42.2 Mbit/s can be achieved in the downlink. In practice, you should reach the speed of no more than 32 Mbit/s. Maximum size for each attachment is 10MB (rar, jpg, zip, pdf, war, txt, docx, doc, png, mp3, mp4, xls, xlsx, gif, jpeg are supported).

Huawei E5577 MiFi with antenna ports required Huawei E5577 MiFi with antenna ports required

I would suggest it is not worth having the antenna. Placing the mifi unit in a rooflight is often quite effective as is placing it against a window in the direction of the nearest cell mast. If the caravan is aluminium bodied then it is close to being a Faraday Cage so the mifi outside is a good idea. Place it in the car next to the caravan again in a position such that it gets a decent signal from the phone system and a laptop or similar will work inside the caravan quite well - range is 10-15ft in most applications. When using the Huawei E5577 you are in essence connecting to the mobile data network in exactly the same way as your phone. If you don’t have a phone data signal then unfortunately you wont have a WIFI signal. So a top tip is to ensure your sim card is on a separate network provider to your phone to make sure you have the best opportunity to have a data network signal. I have made the mistake in the past of having both my phone and MiFi device on the same provider network meaning if I couldn’t get a signal on one then I definitely couldn’t get one on the other. Pricing Unfortunately, there is no way for the Huawei E5577C set to a specific network technology. The only option is the use of LTE-on and to turn off. Compared to several other mobile hotspots, this is a big disadvantage. In the web interface, there are detailed statistics on the internet, you can send and receive SMS and you can share files and folders on the network when inserted MicroSD memory card. There is also a menu item to update the firmware. In the settings menu, there are several configuration options available for WLAN and network. Overall, the web interface of the E5577C is quite extensive and easy to operate!Upload video does not exceed 10M, supported formats are mp4, avi, wmv, mpeg, mov, mkv, flv, f4v, rmvb, rm, 3gp, dat, ts, mts, VOB For those who need to upload content, for examples photos, posting to faceboook or YouTube then the device has an upload speed of 50Mbps, again ample speeds for your usual workloads. Battery life LTE: 150 Mbit/s down, 50Mbit/s up * UMTS: 42.2 Mbit/s down, 5.76 Mbit/s up (when using DC-HSPA+) * GSM: 384 kbit/s (when using EDGE ) One of the key features of the Huawei E5577Cs-321 is its portability. With its compact and lightweight design, it is easy to carry and can be used anywhere, making it an ideal choice for travelers or those who require internet connectivity on-the-go. Equipped with a powerful battery, this router can provide continuous usage for hours without needing to be charged. This ensures that users can stay connected even without access to a power source for an extended period of time.
