About this deal

It was so hard to concentrate on and listen to because both the narrators (one for Enaiat, one for Fabio Geda, the author) were so bad. i almost didn't want to rate this book 5 stars or even 4 because of the author, but again, this book is about enaiatollah akbari. quando rimane orfano di padre oltre che far fronte al lutto deve anche nascondersi dalle persone a cui il padre doveva dei soldi. But then, touchingly, he does name the Italian family who foster him because, he says, their names do not cause him pain. This is a gem of a book, shining a light on the intensely difficult choices and impossible journeys faced by refugees.

For Enaiat is a Hazara, and the saying among the Taliban goes: "Tajikistan for the Tajiks; Uzbekistan for the Uzbeks and 'Goristan' for the Hazara.

An extraordinary story of a ten year old Afghan refugee (Enaiatollah) who, via human traffickers, spends over five years of his life moving from Afghanistan to Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Greece and Italy. I thought it was a great way to recount Akbari’s experiences, but as I mentioned, it felt like he was keeping the reader at arm’s length a lot of the time.

Enaiatollah's journey begins when his mother leaves him at a refugee camp in Pakistan, as she fears for his life if he stays with her in Afghanistan and is forced to do the most difficult thing a mother can do.
