Punters at The Ring O Bells, the oldest pub in the Middleton, have witnessed spooky goings on such as glasses sliding along the bar. Speaking of history, the Albert Hall has it in droves. Built in 1910 by Reverend Samuel Collier who was the head of the largest Methodist congregation in the world at the time. He created the gorgeous Neo-Gothic building with a huge horseshoe shaped upper hall so he could preach to his congregation with ease. The victim's mouth was stuffed with paper, and a red handkerchief was tied around the head to keep the paper in place. The teenager was later identified as 15-year-old Thomas Smith of Wood Street. Before the space was refurbed, spiritual investigators found massive amounts of orbs in the area which imply the presence of hundreds of thousands of spirits within the walls of The Albert Hall. It's the one night of year when even the most sceptical souls are happy to indulge in tales of mystery and the macabre. Yes Halloween, the creepiest date in the calendar we have come to celebrate in seemingly more elaborate ways each year.

The malevolent spirit was said to have attached itself to a row of council houses and tormented families for years. The story goes that the house had a cursed skull which refused to remain buried and that when thrown into the moat caused terrible raging storms. The grisly relic is believed to have been the skull of Father Ambrose Barlow, who was hung, drawn and quartered in 1641. On a fateful (and fictional) day in Manchester a student named Loky met his watery end when he drowned in the icy depths of the canal. The act was not an isolated incident or unfortunate accident but the malicious work of a serial killer who roamed the banks of the canal, his name: The Pusher. On this Haunted Manchester tour you’ll explore the darker side of the city, solving clues and uncovering stories about the trapped spirits who fell victim to this murderer. Keep your wits about you: everything might not be as it seems… 11. Celebrate Halloween with a spine-chilling schedule of events at GRUB Credit: Cultplex Grimshaw Ln, Middleton, Manchester M24 2AX. 8. It was here that the Moors Murderers called home, and it was once reported that the sound of crying children could be heard in the months following their imprisonment. Half a million pounds available for those struggling mentally, financially or physically after covid The clip was first uploaded in 2012, but is still being circulated by people on social media and by media outlets trying to discover the reason for the ghostly goings-on. Plenty of hotels across the UK boast ghosts and many of these hotbeds of paranormal activity are open for business this October.

In Ancient Egypt they believed that if the mummy is destroyed then the statuette can act as an alternative vessel for the spirit. Maybe that is what is causing the movement.” I kept seeing people stood at the door. I fell asleep facing my wall because I was terrified of turning over. The 16 th Century Wythenshawe Hall has a near overwhelming history, even for a building that is 500 years old. Many thanks to the HH staff at this venue for making it a memorable experience for my wife and I. Their input and enthusiasm helped us both to understand and appreciate the activity that we witnessed at the Hall. The table moving activity in the Star Chamber was fascinating and left my wife and myself stunned. The hotel is haunted by a war widow who tragically took her own life by throwing herself from the top of the staircase, landing at the base of the stairs on the marble floor. Boggarts are also often blamed for the abduction of children. A good recent fictional example of a Boggart would be the malevolent spirit haunting the family in the chilling horror film The Babadook.
