The body of the Series 5000 is made entirely out of plastic with a rubber-like textured material on the top front part. The hairs would stick to the skin and lie completely flat, making it impossible for the trimmer to cut them.

For that reason, I think using a lubricating spray for clippers and shavers from time to time (like the Andis CoolCare Plus) would be beneficial. This may be due to several things, including that the groomer has not been charged fully, the user has very thick hair, the groomer has a dirty cutting unit, or the groomer is not oiled. The BodyGroomer 7000’s brushed-aluminium design not only looks premium, but it feels sturdy and well made. The other one is that the foil head of the groomer is fixed, meaning it won’t swivel up and down like the one on the Bodygroom 7000 (both use the exact same foil head).

My final gripe with it is the very basic battery indicator which simply turns orange with the battery is almost dead, which can take you by surprise. It’s the same part used by other Philips body groomers and has the part number BG2000 (in the USA) or TT2000 (international). I’ve mentioned quite a few times throughout this review the predecessor of the BG7030, namely the BG2040.Its main advantage is that swiveling mount for the foil head that I mentioned a few times during the review. The Philips BodyGroom 7000 offers outstanding body shaving and trimming performance, making it one of the best body hair removal tools around. You’re also getting a larger battery, the 7000 being able to provide more than 90 minutes of cordless use on a single charge.

It is really smooth and efficient and it takes me less time to shave compared to using other body groomers. Philips recommends replacing this head every year, but in practice, it tends to last a lot more than that. By the way, the post I’ve mentioned previously only discusses head shavers as I thought you were looking to get one of those, not a regular hair clipper.I tend to get quite a nasty folliculitis if I shave my legs, arms or chest, so I only use the adjustable trimmer of the body groomer on those areas. That one has the foil head on a flexible mount which makes using it more natural, especially when trimming pubic hair.
