Ingredients And Nutrition Information If you drink Bud Light, you’re probably wondering if Budweiser Zero tastes the same as Bud Light. Well, after tasting both, I can say they are very similar. You don’t have to try Bud Light or Budweiser to know that Zero is a Budweiser product. As the name suggests, Budweiser Zero has no alcohol. It’s Budweiser’s first alcohol free beer, but its parent company, Anheuser-Busch has several uniquely branded NA beers to go along with their alcoholic counterparts. An alcohol free brew only has to contain less than .5% alcohol by volume, but Bud Zero has just that – 0%. As one who would normally drink Bud, Busch or Coors Light beers, Bud Zero offers an acceptable alternative when I don’t want the alky. I can drive around with an open can, walk into Wally World with it and carry it open on municipal streets, though some zealous busybodies may still confront me over having an open Bud. It’s kind of fun to watch them shrink away when I explain what’s in the can. Bud Zero is something I can enjoy with seafood, which is complemented best with the malty flavor and effervescence of beer, and for me there is no other reasonable substitute.

Now Budweiser has released a “new” version of “Prohibition”, this time more simply named Budweiser “Zero”. Bevo was a non-alcoholic malt drink or “near beer” that came in under 0.5% ABV to get around the laws of the time. It fell out of favour in the late 20s when everyone was allowed to get drunk again.

Budweiser Zero pours clear amber with few bubbles and little head. It looks a bit sad and flat in the glass.

There are quite a few methods used for brewing non-alcoholic beer. Some control the temperature during fermentation and alcohol is never created. Some use a special distillation method post-fermentation to remove the alcohol. Budweiser non-alcoholic beer is made by removing the alcohol from regular Budweiser using a process called reverse osmosis. Where to Buy Budweiser Non-Alcoholic Beer During prohibition, Anheuser-Busch continued to brew a version of their beer, but without the alcohol. Sold under the name “Bevo,” the beer was not permitted to contain more than 0.5% ABV. However, Bevo was discontinued after prohibition ended, as consumers preferred alcoholic beverages over the “non-alcoholic” version. In contrast to some other non-alcoholic beers, Bud Zero does not contain any alcohol. Additionally, non-alcoholic beer has been shown to have several health benefits. With this in mind, Budweiser Zero is a perfectly appropriate beverage to consume in moderation during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. The pandemic has made people crave familiar products and possibly shy away from trying something new, Caleb Bryant, a food and drink analyst for market research firm Mintel, told CNN Business. Retail beer sales have jumped 20% since mid-March, when Covid-19 began spreading in the United States, according to Nielsen. Non-alcoholic beer sales jumped 35% in the same time period, the firm said. Budweiser is an American beer company that was founded in 1876. It’s now owned by Anheuser-Busch, or AB InBev, one of the largest brewing companies in the world. Budweiser makes a range of beers, with the most commonly known Bud Light and Budweiser. Budweiser Zero: Alcohol Free Beer The brewery says it uses the latest technology to create a beer free from alcohol, although it hasn’t revealed its methods. Ingredients

When prohibition hit in the US in 1920, Budweiser’s parent brewery Anheuser-Busch decided to concentrate on selling brewer’s yeast, malt extract, ice cream and the curiously named “Bevo” drink. Pit stops are still necessary to drain the tank, but that’s just a routine part of the event that usually takes place during caution laps. The downside to BZ I’ve found, is availability. No surprise that it is not carried in most smaller retail outlets or even the larger chain supermarkets you might frequent, so buying it in larger quantities off the floor (warm) is advisable when possible if you want to keep some on-hand without having a dedicated beer fridge. But if you do have the latter, be sure to adjust the thermostat to compensate the absence of anti-freeze. I like to keep mine set just above the freezing point for standard beer, which renders BZ somewhat of a slush puppy after a few hours. I found a few mixed opinions while doing the research. Most people said it tastes just like regular Budweiser, while a small percentage thought it was watered down or bland. Overall, the majority of people seem to really enjoy Budweiser Zero and say it tastes just like a normal Budweiser but without the alcohol. I agree that the similarities are impressive. Alcohol Free Brew: How it’s Made That said, with AB-InBev’s marketing budget behind it, Zero could help raise the profile of low alcoholic beer in general. If you enjoy Bud Light and are looking for a flavor substitute without the alcohol, this is it. While I prefer a more bitter flavor, Budweiser Zero is actually not bad for a light beer. Bottom line: Budweiser Zero tastes like Bud. Light to medium-bodied, with zero alcohol, zero sugar, and low calories.

Prohibition was brewed to the same recipe as the alcoholic version. The brewery removed the alcohol in by heating the beer in a vacuum. It also used a brewing process that stops all of the malt fermenting. That trend has recently extended into the beer market as both large and small companies rediscover non-alcoholic beers. Athletic Brewing, for instance, is a small craft brewery that only makes zero-alcohol beers and doubled production to keep up with demand. Budweiser has come up with a new recipe for Budweiser Zero and teamed up with former NBA star Dwayne Wade to design and promote it. It’s safe to say I walked into this tasting with a healthy level of skepticism. I love craft beers for the unique complexities in flavor they offer. MillerCoors and Pabst products are shown on November 29, 2018 in Chicago, Illinois. Today the two brewers reached an agreement as the jury was deliberating in their civil suit that would extend their brewing arrangement despite their competition for the inexpensive beer market.
