This is a definite recommendation to those who love Moyes books and especially to those who have a love of horses.

Their dedication to their dream of Sarah being able to ride in The Cadre Noir just like her grand father did. Her dream is to follow in the grandfather's footsteps and ride with Le Cadre Noir in Saumur but when something terrible happens to Henri she is thrust into a catastrophic situation that is not only dangerous for her but may lead to her losing her best friend Boo forever. But then her grandfather falls ill, and Sarah must juggle horsemanship with school and hospital visits. Also, the tension between Natasha and Mac and the fact that they are on the verge of divorce, even though it is clear that they still love each other is the stuff of great romantic fiction, keeping you hoping and guessing until the very last. A quintessential Jojo Moyes novel about a lost girl and her horse, the enduring strength of friendship, and how even the smallest choices can change everything. She rents a cottage in the Kent countryside, a rural retreat which she escapes to when Mac is there at the weekends. Plus she had had three miscarriages in four years; why wouldn’t Mac prefer some young fertile beauty to her? Jojo Moyes really is a talented author who manages to weave her words into your mindset and turn her characters into your friends/colleagues/acquaintances; they really could be people from your life.

Unsure and untrusting Sarah tries to weave her way through life’s challenges by keeping things close to the vest. With THE HORSE DANCER, JoJo Moyes has written a poignant story of relationships—primarily, the relationship of a young girl named Sarah, her grandfather, Captain, and their dream of Sarah becoming an elite horseman with the Le Cadre Noir in France with Sarah’s beloved horse, Boo. Sarah also studies the book used by Papa, On Horsemanship, a treatise on horsemanship by the Athenian historian and soldier Xenophon (c. At one point Sarah says “You know like I do that sometimes telling the truth makes things worse, not better” (p. Yes they might be getting divorced, but they have chosen to do something together and he seems a lovely guy despite his dubious taste in girlfriends.

I was lucky enough to have lessons with well known Classical Dressage instructor – and what JoJo has captured is so true and correct. Meanwhile Natasha a children’s lawyer, along with her husband Mac of whom she recently separated from crosses paths with Sarah after her grand father had fallen ill and ends up taking her under her wing. But when Henri suffers a stroke, Sarah must go into foster care and do whatever it takes to not be parted from Boo, even if that means hiding his existence. In my quest to read one of my favourite authors back catalogue, The Horse Dancer was next on the list and, I have to be honest, was a book I was quite wary about reading.
