Kurt’s V-shaped vest is painted on below the chest, but sculpted above it and it flares out from the shoulders. As for articulation, Hasbro graced Nightcrawler with one of the more poseable bodies, which includes the lateral crunches on the shoulders. Despite all my paint gripes, this figure is a blast and is inching up on figure of the year territory for me as it’s a great, classic representation of one of my favorite characters with a ton of posing and play options. Luckily, Hasbro has upped not just the quantity and quality of extras in this second wave, but also the breadth of characters!

Nightcrawler comes in the regular Marvel Legends box which didn’t even make it home with me because I had to open this figure up ASAP and try and streamline what I’m carrying around the show floor with me as much as possible at SDCC.

I think some artists tended to draw Kurt with more aquiline nose or stronger jaw, but these portraits feel like a better match for Cockrum’s work on the original Nightcrawler mini-series or the above mentioned McGuinness. At the same time, I always thought he was one of the better examples of the Mutant dilemma, since so many could hide their mutations in the guise of their normal appearances. It is Comic Book accurate and has very well crafted and artistic features plus two head accessories in the package.

He’s definitely the best offering of this wave, and that’s not something I say lightly since this wave also gave us an excellent figure of mah-man, Sinister.He’s got a strong articulation scheme with excellent ranges of motion on the joints, a generous set of accessories (including three heads—more on that in a bit), and a solid sculpt with accurate detailing and proper proportions. That was a terrific figure that stands the test of time, but Hasbro was finally ready to release their own Kurt Wagner this year!
